September 30, 201213 yr Author Taking off, handflying to the destination and landing on a visual approach 15 minutes later ... seems like a fun time to me Could not agree more. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Corey
October 1, 201213 yr Not relevant to this post at all, but stangely enough, I was spotting at my local airfield today, KPHL, and thinking about a flight I was on between KPHL and KJFK in the early 80's. Nowadays, it's handled by RJ's like the CRJ or ERJ, but back then it was flown by a TWA 727-200. The total route segment is about 109 nm, darn short IHMO, and about a 2 hour drive with good traffic. I was reminiscing about the old jets like the 727s, DC-9s, and marveling at how TWA offered that route using a relatively large jet for such a short distance, so it was a happy coincidence to see this topic! October 1, 201213 yr Sub one hour flights are fun for me, in a 15 min flight you will not have time for everything... Flights from let's say London to Paris or London to Amsterdam, are a very fun way to go. It's like a short "transatlantic" flight under an hour, flying over water : ) Most of my flights are around 3 hours to 6... sometimes even 10 to 13 hours Interesting flight you did on the TWA flight NGXfanatic, I thought it was uneconomical to fly short distances with huge airplanes.

Back in the day, Delta used to fly the L1011's quite a bit between KATL-KTPA. Not as short as your route, but short nonetheless. I remember 1 flight in particular where there were 4...yes 4...passengers on the entire plane. There were more F/A's than passengers! Talk about having the row to yourself. Ahh the good ol' days when the planes were big, the engines were loud, and Jet A was $.10/gal. Matt L.
