  1. Thanks Andy. I'll keep playing around with the lightning effects and see if I can figure out which ones light up the cockpit.
  2. Hi all, First, I am wanting to get rid of the cockpit flash that is supposed to represent lightning flashing. To me, it is incredibly unrealistic to be flying at 38000 feet 20 miles away from a thunderstorm and have the entire cockpit light up like somebody just set off a strobe. So I need to know what effects file it is, and if I delete it, will anything bad happen. Secondly, I want to lower the thunder sound that I hear inside the cockpit. Again, I find it incredibly unrealistic to be in the same scenario as above and hear thunder. Do I need to lower the volume of all of the .wav files or individual ones? I don't mind hearing it outside...just inside. Thanks in advance for the help
  3. Anybody actually bought this? Is it just FSRecorder on steroids?
  4. What 'additional features' are you wanting that would warrant a service pack?
  5. That analogy struck me as odd too. And anybody that pays sticker price for a new car is an imbecile.,
  6. Well I guess it's time to quit that comedian job that I have then... Why do car buyers expect loyalty discounts? Or frequent flyers? Why do so many businesses offer "returning customer" programs? Even simming companies such as fs2crew and hifi offer repeat customer discounts. Nothing I stated in anyway hinted at me expecting some type of loyalty discount. I'm not a 16 year old kid with dad's credit card in hand. I'm a 34 year old man that has way too many other things to worry about than if I get some discount for some flight simulation software. I did forget however, that is frowned upon to make a light-hearted joke or otherwise give an opinion on avsim...especially if it involves the 'oh holy' pmdg. I will try to remember harder next time.
  7. The data that THEY are running p3d, so everybody must be running p3d. I'd be more that happy to drop my FSX:SE install for p3d...just as soon as somebody convinces PMDG to stop charging separately.
  8. No replies yet? I'm surprised...
  9. As long as it doesn't turn out like the AirSimmer Airbus, I'll be a happy camper!
  10. I've tried several times, and get a "This webpage not available." message with a Connection Reset error after the contribution page when it automatically redirects to the download server. It has been like this for several days. Any thoughts?
  11. The original soundpack is more authentic as far as pitch though. If Aaron could bring his sounds up a bit, they would be golden.
  12. I am building an updated scenery for this airport, but information online is a little thin. What I am requesting is any rw pictures/video and any information about the airport that is not readily available online or through Google Earth. Thanks
  13. Nice picture of San Angelo!
  14. Yep. Would it make you feel better if I said that the Couatl module was the best thing since sliced bread? I'm not going to argue with you because, quite frankly, I couldn't care less...
  15. That darn Couatl program was the worst thing that ever happened to flightsim. It has caused more headaches for people than I care to remember.
  16. Bump from the dead: Can this be used in Steam?
  17. My VA does the same thing re landing rates. They chastise the practice in the forums, yet have landing rate graphs and the pilots (mostly newer ones) post their landing rates via ACARS all of the time. The closer to 0 v/s, apparently the better they think their landing is. Who cares if they floated 10,000ft down an 8,000ft runway! They landed a -2fpm rate. I've even seen positive rates upon landing. The problem with the ACARS software is that it records the final landing rate, so they could have crashed into the runway at -3500fpm the 1st time, bounced and hit -120fpm the Second time, and it's recorded as a good landing. My point is not to bash my va by any means. They are a fine organization that have helped many people in many different ways, and I am proud to be a member. Rather it is an example of how ridiculous these landing rates can be. Out of the thousands of real world landings I have ever performed, I don't know a single landing rate. Only in a simulator that is ironically "as real as it gets" are such trivial things celebrated. The tires didn't blow+the lg strut wasn't tweaked+my wife/passengers didn't cuss=good landing.
  18. I was going to say! Want to see a runway lit up? Fly an approach into a major airport under IFR conditions...mainly low clouds, fog, etc. It'll blind you. Especially the approach lights.
  19. You seem to take issue with some of the responses, so I'll be frank. People don't care if somebody is leaving a certain flight sim platform...or why. Some are just too polite to say it. Others (like Jim) don't pull punches. I wonder how many pages you could fill with peoples "I'm leaving xyz platform because..." threads. Probably quite a few. I'll just leave this right here... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGcHNnI2mh4
  20. I can't say anything about p3d since I don't own it, but for the 1st time ever in FSX, I was able to fly the NGX from FlyTampa's KTPA to FSDreamteam's KDFW and use around 2.6 VAS...using ASN, GSX, REX softclouds, and the usual terrain addons...and it didn't climb. I'm still trying to figure out the perfect tweak to get my fps back up to where it was, but I'm a happy camper with SE.
  21. I did a complete/name defrag a few days ago. It did help. I might do another one to see if it will help further.
