October 2, 201213 yr Flew at 10,000 feet directly toward the destination marker. About 26 miles out of Adak just under 9,000 ft the co-pilot says something to the affect of."Aircraft ahead, take evasive action". Before I could make a move he says. " Guess we were lucky, he did not see us, you really skated by this time". I never say anything! This is the first time I ever even came close to being intercepted. Maintain present course and enter a normal traffic pattern when ready. I used the Carbon Cub for this flight. Very hard to keep on course even with no wind. Once I got the wing tanks balanced out it was better but I still had to keed an eye on it or it would slowly drift off to one side or the other, should have brought more coffee. The C-46 will hold a steady course and not weaver once set up. I got the "Under the Radar" achievent award for this flight even through I was in radar contact for the entire flight at around 10,000 feet.
October 2, 201213 yr I've flown that route several times and never gotten caught by the law. On my first trip, my co-pilot mentioned seeing another a/c, but almost as soon said that he must not have seen us. That was at about 300 ft. wide open in the Maule. Since then, I usually climb to 6500 - 7000 ft. and cruise. Haven't had any kind of notification while doing this and all trips have been successful. Thank you.
