Making a scratch built ADE9x airfield controlled.

Featured Replies

I've been using ADE9x for a while now, mostly to modify and update existing airfields and making a couple of original airfields that are uncontrolled. For about the last year I have been planning a very large scenery that I have already started for the northern end of the Gulf of Baja, this is a mega sized international airport that will need to have tower control. The problem is, with original airports made in ADE9x, as far as I know, there is no way to have them "controlled".

The airport is being made for FS9, it's called Baja Norte International and is located at N31 44.5 by W114 50.30. There are two runways, one is 9000X200, the other is 7000X200. So far I have 12 gates with jetways, lots of static ground vehicles and static aircraft at a couple of the gates. I eventually want to learn how to even make AI traffic for this scenery. But I really need to have a tower controlled airport first.

I am a relative novice at this sort of technology, I can follow plain English instructions well but once the "geek-speak" starts I get lost. If there is a simple program or way to add this function I would appreciate a 'lil help'. I'm to the point in this scenery, after about 5 hours of object placement, that I don't want to dedicate anymore time to it until I can give the tower a voice.

All you should have to do is add a Tower frequency.

While your at it you might want to add a Ground too, though it is not required.

Joe

As Joe says - add a tower frequency. Go to Lists > Comms and click the Add button. Then complete the dialog making sure to select TOWER as the type from the drop down. Pick a frequency from the list and save the changes.

Joe, thanks for the comments, and Jon, thanks for your emails on the subject. As I told Jon I was fortunate to find someone with considerable more experience than I have that walked me through exclusions, establishing tower communications and taxiway assignements. In the 2 hours on SKYPE I learned more than I have in the 2 years of just playing around with the program. Baja Norte will probably take the rest of the year to do, it's not only the airport but a complete sea-side resort that is being built. I have many challenges to overcome still but I do have the beginning.
