RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum 1866MHz DDR3

Featured Replies

Hi All:

Does anyone out there have experience with Corsair's latest offering; Corsair Dominator Platinum 1866MHz DDR3: http://www.neoseeker.com/Articles/Hardware/Reviews/corsair_dominator_platinum_ddr3_1866_16gb/

I am considering installing this memory to work along with my i7 2700k, on a Maximus V GENE motherboard. Would this be a good 'fit'? I would like to keep the voltage @ 1.5 V.

Other recommendations maybe?

Thanks and regards,

ap.

The Platinum series seems to appeal to hardcore users that want to OC their RAM. If you plan to stick with the stock clocks of the RAM, go for something cheaper like the GSKill RipJaws DDR3 2133 CL9.

Ben: many thanks for your input. As always, I appreciate it.

Would you suggest maintaining 1.5V or would 1.65V be acceptable for an i7 2700k?

Regards,

ap.

You really need to check with the tech support specialists for the memory. they are the only ones who can give you the voltage and thermal specs you need. on *some* memory, if you under volt it, you will get errors. if it's designed to run at 1.65 then run it there OR higher IF the techs say it will handle it.

Unlike CPU's with overload protection, you can fry your memory without any warning.

As long as you don't exceed 1.65V on your RAM, you will be fine.

Just be sure that the RAM is rated for 1.65V....

1.65 is perfectly fine, especially with Sandy Bridge and later. I run my RAM at 1.68 in fact.
