'New posts' and 'Read' question

Featured Replies

This is my AVSIM browsing procedure. My bookmark is 'View new content', I'm presented with a list of new posts. So far, so good. I run my eye down the list until something interests me and I click on it, read it the go back to the list. This is where it has changed. Before, the thread I had just read remained in the list but greyed out. This was very handy as it allowed me to see where I'd got up to. Now the thread disappears from said list and I lose my place, dagnabbit! I have to start at the top.

Is this an options thing or is it an 'improvement'?

Ron, simply click the "Back" button on your browser to return to the same place you were before in the list of topics. The one you just finished reading will be grayed out as "read"...

You mean, read post, click back button, then click back button again? That's an extra click! So many clicks, so little time!

Cheers

EDIT: Conducted experiment. Failed. Two clicks takes me to 'No new content' which is empty. Mmm.

Strange because I've been doing it this way for yonks!

  1. Click on "View New Content"
  2. Find topic of interest, click on little blue ball on left to go to first unread post
  3. When done, click on browser's "Back" button
  4. Will be returned to "View New Content" list, read topic now marked as "read" (grayed out)

So have I, yonks, that is. But not now. Firefox 1.5.01

Just got a FF update, I wonder...

EDIT: Nah. :( Oh well, it's not that important in the scheme of things. Irritating though.

Just thought I'd try it in IE9...Same.

Retard. No, no, RETIRED!

Ron, I'm way past "retired..."

...these days I'm just "tired!"
