Update the frequencies at default airfields.

Featured Replies

Thought I would pass on a link to a utility on the web.

One of the issues I have when flying complex aircraft is that the data it is using for ILS frequencies is taken from it's own database (usually the navigraph database ) and if you are landing at a default stock airport. ( for example Munich EDDM) the sim uses the data from the stock airport files ( BGL's). This means that your aircraft has selected the latest data and your ILS and is tuned to the latest frequency, but the sim is using the old frequency so as you approach and wonder why the ILS is not functioning this is the reason. The data for the default stock airports are stored in the bgl files in the scenery folders, and there are a lot of them. Updating individually is a pain. What is needed is a utility to open these files and update the frequencies to the latest. I searched the web and found the following.

I think this might be very useful, but should be used with caution. Read the PDF that is with the download before using.

So far this seems to have done the trick and the frequencies for EDDM were updated.

Happy landings.

I usually just update them with ADE (Airport design Editor) instead of messing around with stock bgl files. If I run into one I just use the old freq and fix it direct when the flight is over.

Wow...excellent. Looks like both this utility and ADF are two viable options.
