  1. For me Microsoft Flight died mainly because it lacked a living world. No ATC, no AI, no autopilot. All these things are essential if you want to feel you are in a simulator rather than a game. I enjoyed chasing aerocaches etc but at the end of the day it needed more life. And that didn't happen. I won't touch any future version of flight without those things.
  2. You either have multiple AFCADS for this airport, or your default flight is set to this airport and it loads up twice. Try changing your default flight first to somewhere distant.
  3. Typical of 'buses. You wait for one for ages and then 2 come at once. lol. Ed.
  4. Thought I would pass on a link to a utility on the web. One of the issues I have when flying complex aircraft is that the data it is using for ILS frequencies is taken from it's own database (usually the navigraph database ) and if you are landing at a default stock airport. ( for example Munich EDDM) the sim uses the data from the stock airport files ( BGL's). This means that your aircraft has selected the latest data and your ILS and is tuned to the latest frequency, but the sim is using the old frequency so as you approach and wonder why the ILS is not functioning this is the reason. The data for the default stock airports are stored in the bgl files in the scenery folders, and there are a lot of them. Updating individually is a pain. What is needed is a utility to open these files and update the frequencies to the latest. I searched the web and found the following. http://www.aero.sors.fr/navaids3.html I think this might be very useful, but should be used with caution. Read the PDF that is with the download before using. So far this seems to have done the trick and the frequencies for EDDM were updated. Happy landings. Ed.
  5. Well we've been told that the only thing stopping release is a problem with one file to do with the MCDU, which is a release stopper. That has to be fixed obviously and while it is they are taking advantage of the time to add additional features. All well and good. I just hope that adding, FPA for example, does not hold up the product from release once the MCDU problem is resolved. I orderd this airplane last December believing it would be out for a christmas release, then discovered it would be January ( still alright ). Since then I've been watching the progress and seen countless times when the project director has been saying "we really must get this out soon". Personally I think it was a mistake to give give out an actual date and then not only miss that date but miss it by a considerable way. This has left a lot of people on tender hooks. So yes get the main bug fixed first and add some extras while waiting but DO NOT delay the release by adding something complex that will require more testing and more delays that was due to be put in SP1 anyway. I'm still hopeful of a release relatively soon so we can stop drooling over screenshots and actually give it a go ourselves. Keep up the good work developers. There are a lot of us who appreciate what you are doing.
  6. If none of the above works then go into Catalyst Control Center and in 3D application settings make sure in MipMap level is set to High Quality. Ed.
  7. Arwen has explained why she has stopped playing Flight on her website. I totally agreed with her reasons. I haven't touched flight for 2 months now and won't be back either until there is some sort of 'interaction' or 'life' pack released. Nevertheless I'll keep one eye on the forums to see what's happening and may return one day.
  8. I think on the map page there will be a seperate map of the world. You'll just click on the area that you have downloaded and the main map will automatically move to that region. Just a guess but it would mean that it would only have to be changed once in the game and then it could be used for all future scenery releases.
  9. Of course what hasn't been picked up on here from the original post is the fact that if you are in F9 cockpit view without the cockpit and then rotate to look behind you what would you expect to see. Just the scenery of course. Instead you see the Plane. It's like F9 is just an exterior view that has moved your view forward outside of the plane. This is of course wrong. Now does anyone fancy moving the viewpoint backwards so you are inside the plane and see what happens. That would be interesting.
  10. Yes IE9 here and in the main forum page the content is centered, refreshing does not alter it. Doesn't look right to me.
  11. You're just being paranoid, as RUSH1169 said these are the gamertags that the signup gives you randomly. My original one was truly awful and to be honest If I hadn't been able to change it I would have thought twice about joining multiplayer games.
  12. Thing is if they do intend to model the whole world they can't do it at the quality of Hawaii and Alsaka, it would take forever. So when ( and if ) big jets do come along they will surely have to make a lower resolution entire globe ( or continents) to give the jets somehwere to fly to. So I'm hoping ( along with ATC and AI ) that they will take all the scenery in FSx and convert it to the flight model and sell it as an additional pack. I would happily buy Europe if it was the equivalent of FSX, will a few major airports in high quality. There's always hope. Fingers crossed.
  13. Microsoft have corrected themselves now and are stating it will be ~600,000 sq miles - 1.5 million sq km.
  14. Use the stearman, the radio has a longitude and lattitude indicator, fly to 18.500 north, -155.750 west. Good luck.
  15. Of course what we could do with is someone to run up a quick external app with a graphical interface to make all these changes possible for everyone. Shouldn't be too difficult. If I had the time I'd do it myself. Maybe then Microsoft will take the hint that it should have been provided in game instead of by third parties.Anyone care to take this on - as new features are uncovered the app can be updated.Ed.
  16. I think you turn off 'use mouse to fly aircraft' in the options.Ed.
  17. Well I had all the scenery and airplanes in the beta but didn't get the scenery in the release. But I will gladly stump up 15 quid for that, it's well worth it. I'm a bit disappointed not to see any mention of future addons. Early days so let's wait and see.Ed.
  18. Post the ones you can do. A lot of us appreciate the effort you make with these comparisons. I think 9 and 10 are way too detailed to be just a road so look for a bridge instead. I'll have a look later see if I can help.
  19. Nice one, I knew someone would know. Couldn't find any pictures of that cockpit you see. The frequency still doesn't make any sense though, maybe it's not meant to.
  20. Anyone able to identify this plane from the cockpit view. Screenshot 4 is taken from approach to Lihue airport PHLI. The ILS frequency is correct for the runway, but the coms1 frequency is set to 124.850 and I cannot find what that is tuned to or the NAV2 frequency for that matter.
  21. The 'exciting announcement' they are hinting at could just be the real website for this game, because there is no way the current site is suitable. Or it could be something else. Tea anyone.Ed.
  22. To play simply go to this link and compare the 2 pictures.http://www.microsoft.com/games/flight/#news-performance_hardwarethen see how many differences you can find between the 2 pictures.I will start. The top one has the word LOW and the bottom one has the word HIGH on it. Let's see if we can find them all.Only one go per person per day please.Ed
  23. This is a known fault with the Wilco Airbus Vol 1. Vol 2 is fine. Unfortunately the models are ported from fs2004 and converted to fsx models but don't contain all the necessary transparency details for the textures to allow transparency. Everything was fine until SP2/Acceleration came along and effectively stopped some of the transparency methods that older models were using. Namely to use the Alpha channel in the textures to display transparency for windows etc.You can install the evolution upgrade which contains the fixed models or you can send me a personal message with your email address and I'll send you a patch to make the windows transparent again.Ed.
  24. Pushback and turn does not work in FSX because of the way the wilco Airbus is programmed. However the Wilco Airbus Evolution does work correctly with pushback and its one of the things that was fixed. In fact you can use the rudder keys to turn during pushback. The lights should work with SHIFT+L. It's not the best product no doubts but it is still one of the Airbus simulations. Good luck.
