February 29, 201214 yr I have been a beta tester since Jan 5th and although the beta closed on Feb 14th, the Devs decided to keep the beta forum open so that we could still give feedback etc.Today, they have given us the go-ahead to post on other forums so that the release of Flight might go as smooth as possible.First of all some known issues and quotes from the Dev Team about them.1.Brakes Axis ??" We weren't able to fix binding the brakes to joystick axes for final release. We will be fixing it for a future update. As a work around you can bind the brakes to buttons and it should work, although I know this is not ideal."2.Water Reflection ??"You should see clouds, terrain, autogen and scenery all reflecting on Maximum settings now. For Medium and above settings we also increased the resolution of the reflection map, rewrote the water shader with a different lighting and reflection model and the wave and bump map parameters were tuned a bit."3.Wet Runways ??"We actually removed the wet look because it didn't look very good and caused problems in many cases."I will post more when I know more !I personally really enjoyed the beta phase and I do think that Flight has a great future as a Flight Simulator. Why do I think this ?1. MS can update the base platform when and where it is needed. (the beta was updated once during the testing)2. I am now certain that Flight will have ATC, AI etc.........3. By seperating the Platform from the Content, users can freely purchase the things/parts that interest them the most. This might be worth mentioning as well !The files that we were testing were dated Jan 1st 2012 (after the jan 17th update) and that was all we saw up to now.The release version files are dated Jan 31st so what the devs are seeing now is a month ahead of what we all see now.If anyone has any questions about the Beta...........Fire away !!Fred. February 29, 201214 yr thankswas there a bug in the Beta where if you place your plane at the top of the highest mountain on the island and click Fly - the MS Flight did not place aircraft high enough and when entering the game the screen just spun and spun and spun in all directions and angles !!! lol. I tried again and it worked 2nd time - so its not a consistent bug
February 29, 201214 yr Author I have not seen that !It is nice though that your plane gets placed at the altitude of the topography.Actually the plane will always be placed 1000 ft above the topography of the MAP and in a shallow climb.Fred. Frederic Steiner.
February 29, 201214 yr Author What about this (3th post):http://forum.1cpubli...?t=30071&page=2 What about it ?If you don't want to use Flight, then don't. Simple as !Fred. Frederic Steiner.
February 29, 201214 yr Author Latest advice from the Dev Team !!" Some of the people downloading from xbox.com aren't getting asked to choose a language (so it's defaulting to English). We're working on a workaround for that, but while we're getting that ready, if you download from the following link you should get the language prompt. "The best link to use to download Flight is http://www.microsoft.com/games/flight/Fred. Frederic Steiner.
February 29, 201214 yr I like the statement about the Brakes / Axis.. that is good news!Did you ever hear anything about enabling the Maule autopilot?? Bert
February 29, 201214 yr The best link to use to download Flight is http://www.microsoft.com/games/flight/ wonder how this can be? since the only link there is the windows live marketplace installer. I am wondering because I am now downloading flight for the 10th time as I cannot install it. throws some error messages out when trying to install the c++ runtimes 2008 and 2010 and that's it. Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"
February 29, 201214 yr Product Key Problems (Workaround from Microsoft)Because Microsoft Flight is Free-to-Play when you sign-into LIVE for the first time through Flight a product key should be auto assigned to you. However we have noticed that some users are not getting their key auto assigned and are seeing a message asking them to enter a valid product key for the game. Here are some steps to take if you run into this issue: Close down Flight Re-launch the game Attempt to sign-in again If there is a 5x5 key already entered into the product key window just click ‘I accept’ and then the ‘Submit’ button. This should log you in. If that still does not give you a valid product key do the following to manually retrieve a key: Go to http://marketplace.x...15-d8044d5308d2 Click the ‘Buy Game FREE’ button Select ‘Confirm Purchase’ (this is a free transaction and won’t cost anything) Open up the Games for Windows Marketplace Client on your PC (found under Start->All programs->Games for Windows Marketplace) Sign into the Marketplace Client with your GFWL / Xbox LIVE account Click the ‘Downloads’ tab Click ‘Microsoft Flight’ from the list Click ‘View Game Keys’ Copy the ‘LIVE Access Code’ Open Flight Sign-in again If still asked for a Product Code, enter the LIVE Access Code you copied in step 9 Click ‘I accept’ and ‘Submit’ Give people power to really test their personality.

March 1, 201214 yr Author Just another bit of info from the Devs !MAX Setting in Options menu ??"Maximum is only available on 64-bit OSes, or if you enable the /3GB switch in your 32-bit OS."Fred. Frederic Steiner.
