  1. In the latest Dev stream Jorg said they were holding back on it until both the sims had the same aerials so that modders wouldn't have to make separate airports for each sim. This seems to be pretty much accomplished so the World Hub should be coming 'soon' (TM).
  2. In the stream Jorg reckoned that with the various changes they've made their marketplace should now be as fast as other marketplaces since the vast bulk of actions are now on the developer including the timing of the submission to the marketplace.
  3. Well of course they do. It's all QA can do. Whilst it would be great to test with add-ons and third party programs it's just not feasible as it means repeating all the tests for each and every one of those extra add-ons and third party programs. QA just doesn't have the time to do that, not to mention the increased costs that would result. From reading the thread it seems that that they need to mention having an empty exe.xml as well as the community folder.
  4. One thing that I've noted is that the library doesn't show all the variants as separate items. If you want to use a different variant e.g. Cessna 172 G1000 instead of the Cessna 172 Cargo variant then you have to press 'Configure' to see all the variants available for Cessna 172. This is not at all intuitive IMHO. Hope this helps.
  5. This came up on the Career Mode thread on MS Forums. Apparently there is a command 'Toggle Visual Assistance Aids' or something very similar that does this. It doesn't have any binding by default so you'll need assign one
  6. May be better to VPN to Ireland from what I've read on the FS forums since it's lower latency than US.
  7. I live in the UK and installed and logged in quite happily around 7am on Wednesday. I had a short flight in the afternoon. Biggest issue for me was the changed keyboard shortcuts from 2020.
  8. Sebastian said they simulated 200,000 concurrent requests. against that server. Did it not occur to anyone to check what the concurrent demand was at 2020 launch? Even if they didn't have exact figures then at least they might have been in the right ballpark.
  9. Having watched the interview with the Asobo co-founder it's clear that Career Mode as it appears in 2024 is their estimate of what people might like. They're quite open to tweaking it depending on feedback. I suspect will be aimed more at the less demanding side since the aim is to get the widest audience. TL:DR People looking for a rigorous training regime will probably be disappointed but if it can attract far more people into becoming more flight proficient that's no bad thing.
  10. What's the betting they're people who accepted the default location instead of specifying a different location? 🙄 I believe Microsoft even recommended using a different location for 2020 betas.
  11. Tech Alpha forum is here for those who were wondering.
  12. Probably thought they might find helpful advice rather than a sneering and condescending post. I remember all the posts where people had problems with updates such as reinstalling the whole sim because they hadn't got the hang of how to do it correctly. Have a nice day!
  13. I believe this was more about the reduction in processor usage rather than fps. I know there was a lot of discussion about the subject at the time.
  14. Looking back through my records I see I paid £110 for all the bells and whistles back in 2020; less than £30 a year. Nowadays that would be £135 adjusting for inflation. Personally, I fully intend to get the equivalent version when 2024 comes out although I'll wait a few months before buying it to get the worst of the bugs out of the way, not to mention missing most other people bringing the download servers to a crawl
  15. Squirrel has a fairly nice set of tutorials here that some might like. The first few tutorials go over setting up MFS, peripherals and using the cameras with learning to fly part really starting at episode 4. The pace is quite gradual which I think newcomers would appreciate.
  16. What he said. I voted Glass to even up the voting but I think we should really have a mix rather than specifically one or the other.
  17. Thank god I didn't need to select and rank all the options! It seems clear that nobody thought about the problems of ranking so many options within the confines of most people's monitor size.
  18. The problem there is that DX12 is Win10 only and excludes a pretty large majority of the potential market both for Flight School and, much more to the point, Flight Simulator. Somewhat further up the thread DTG Martin specifically said this was why DTG went with DX11.
  19. If DTG can be blamed for dropping the ball anywhere then not pointing users to the manual has to be right at the top of the list.
  20. ROFL. Talk about gaming the awards.
  21. I believe DTG are concentrating on Europe & North America first and then working through the rest of the world afterwards. I think I saw this in the 'Ask DTG' thread on Steam in the DTG Flight School forum.
  22. The trouble with looking at Flight School as a technology preview is that DTG probably didn't do too much optimisation. Martin was pretty clear in the 'Ask DTG' thread that they weren't doing too much work in Flight School apart from DX11 & 64bit.

Somewhere within the 'Ask DTG' thread I believe there's a post where Martin makes it quite clear that whilst they have lots of enhancements in mind for the flight simulator not all of them will be in place at the initial release. I seem to recall mention of two to three years following the initial release as well as mentions of "in it for the long haul". I really hope that Martin keeps pushing this point to people in the coming months.

A definitive statement with zero evidence from the person who also made a definitive statement that they were done commenting on Flight School. Why should anyone believe a word you say?
