ya it's well written and informative...I would actually be bit surprised to learn she is not on these forums. Either that, or she is in for one hell of a find when she realizes we're here!

She used to hang around here, but she left for what ever reason. I believe it was the way she was treated by those that absolutely hate Flight, but I can't remember for sure.

Arwen was an administrator here, she was very nice and even handed. I don't know why she left, but we are poorer for it.

She also does mods to games Elder scrolls games.

That's a shame, cause I would have asked her how to find that file she she adjusted to change the cockpit view. She said it was located here Path: C:\Users\"User Name"\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Flight\

I found that directory by setting file folders to show hidden files in Control Panel. But I can't find the file. Maybe look for it again later. I like the perspective after she tweaked the file much better than the default view.

Whoops, don't know how to delete this post, but I just found the file and edited it with notepad. Just checked the cockpit view out and it is perfect!!!!!. :clapping:

Arwen has explained why she has stopped playing Flight on her website. I totally agreed with her reasons. I haven't touched flight for 2 months now and won't be back either until there is some sort of 'interaction' or 'life' pack released. Nevertheless I'll keep one eye on the forums to see what's happening and may return one day.

Being new here, I can immediately see that some people are not happy with Flight. Having lived through the last 3 versions of MSFS, I can remember the bashing, criticizing, people saying the Microsoft is evil, the programmers are horrible, and all the other things that were constantly posted about MSFS. These complaints were posted before the product was released, after it was released, once people started finding the multitude of bugs in the products, and some even after they uninstalled FS from their systems. And when an update came out, all her hell broke loose for weeks.

The few grumbles about Flight now , are like picnic, compared to times past.....

I'm not sure what all you adjusted, but you may find some more view adjustments here: http://forum.avsim.n...r-default-view/

I changed the "zoom" that was mentioned in the link you just posted. Her recomendatiion was to change it from 0.6 to 0.9 which is what I did. I might experiment with this setting as I see that what you posted says that 0.75 was the best for that individual. Anyway, it is definitively better than the default. I can remember playing with these setting quite a bit in FS9 also, since I tried to get the same view as you would get in a RA.

Yes, the perfect zoom for you will depend on your monitor-size and resolution, as well as how much peripheral vision you want and how much fish-eye distortion you can tolerate.

Right now I use .75, but I may pull it back to .9 or so once TrackIR is in, as I will be able to look around so much more easily.

Definitely try some different settings to see what you like best.

Well I shot a bunch of approaches in the RV 6 tonight at 0.9 and it seemed pretty good. I think I will leave it that way for now . It definetly made a difference in judging my approaches and when to flare.

Don't forget that when you adjust zoom, you don't only zoom into the VC but also the scenery. I like my scenery to look sharp and crisp and I like a bit of peripheral vision, zo I have my zoom set to 0.7 and moved my position a bit forward using the information from RoboRay's tutorial. When I use a zoom of .9 the VC may look very good and all, but the scenery is zoomed in way too much.

I am saying this because you tend to look only at the VC when you adjust zoom and forget about the scenery. The scenery looks pretty different when you compare a zoom of .7 or .9.

At the default zoom, the scenery is zoomed way out, making everything outside look tiny and distant. :(

1.0 gives correct normal view, but no peripheral vision with a single monitor.
