FSX freezes and an error message.

Featured Replies

Tried the latest version(not beta) and noticed FSX now freezes for about 15 sec and than an error message comes up saying the weather theme doesn't exists.

OpusFSX is configured correctly and points to the FSX folder(UAC is disabled and everything is set to run as admin).

Using Process Monitor I was able to deduce that the weather theme file Opus creates has its disposition set to delete and is deleted before FSX can process the load theme command and thus the message appears. I have recently upgraded my FSX drive to an SSD as well.

The current beta version removes the theme file that used to be installed. So you'll have to use Live Weather until you create your own themes ... or await the next beta which I think will have the theme file added back in again.

To quote Stephen from the Altitude Winds thread...

"I had removed the OpusWeather file from the simulator's Weather/themes folder ready for a future upgrade, but I am now going to implement the upgrade differently so I will leave the OpusWeather file there. That way when you upgrade in the future you won't experience the same problem."

+1... This has happened to me a couple of times since the latest update, but certainly not every time. I have never used a weather theme either in Opus, P3D, or any other program ever. I had changed absolutely nothing.

Sorry about that folks, I didn't think about people saving flights with the OpusWeather theme attached. My error, I will correct it tomorrow.

So in a future upgrade this problem will be solved by keeping a dummy theme file for FSX to always find? that's good news.

Just wanted to know if this has been fixed in the latest beta posted today?

Yes it has. Also be a good idea to keep upto date by checking the Opus Flight 1 forum in the Announcment section.

Edit: Stephen can type quicker than me. :P
