Which RAM for new computer?

Featured Replies

Well, hello again. I apologize if I am beginning to be a nuisance, that is not my intent. I have almost my entire computer figured out, except the case and RAM. So, could anyone offer suggestions? Is a full tower any better than a mid tower case? Currently thinking of the Corsair 400R mid. Also, is 8 GB of 2133 MHZ DDR3 Dual Channel G.SKILL Ripjaws X RAM a good chpice? Further, should I do 2 sticks or 4? Thanks!

Hi,

Two sticks of the RipJaws 2133 would be perfect!

I can't... no.

But I can point you to someone who is experienced and knows what they are talking about when it comes to FSX and memory: NickN at SimForums... specifically this thread (scroll down to the System Memory section) http://www.simforums.com/forums/memeory-timings-vs-speed_topic41484_post246676.html?KW=tuning+windows#246676

I think Hasse has done some work with Memory... but I'm not sure of specific posts... search him (westman).

Okay thanks guys. Ben, should I do 8 GB or 16? 2 sticks of 4 is what I'm assuming.

2 4GB Dimms would suffice for 99% of users. Unless you are doing serious hardcore video editing or intense photo editing, 16GB is completely unneccesary.

No, the main peupose of the computer is for fsx. Thanks! Is the case good, or should I go full tower, or one with more fans?
