PC refuses to overclock, help needed!

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I had problems with overclocking my machine a while ago and got so frsutrated I have been running fsx with no overclock, I have decided to attempt to get a stable overclock! But I need some help!

Specs,

i7 2600k

Z68xUD7B3 gigabyte mobo

G skill 8gb ram

Asus hd 7970 directcu 2 graphics card

Corsair hx850w psu

H70 CPU cooler

Running windows 7 64x

The problem I am having is if I attempt to overclock my machine,

Even to 3.8, and run prime 95 I get a bsod which the code indicates to increase my vcore, I kept doing this until my machine reached 4.8vcore and stopped

It there.

No matter what I do, I can't get a stable overclock at even 3.8 which I'm sure my machine should be able to do no problems at all!

Any help will be greatly appreciated! I really want this issue solved once and for all

Thanks in advance :)

Kane

Do you try to clock the BCLK base clock?

Try multi instead , vcore 4.8.???

Reset bios to factory deafault , change multi to 41 with stock voltage

Then add 0.1v vcore and the multi to the point it Begin unstable.

Sorry i meant i vcore of 1.48.

The Sandy memcontroller can handle à blck to 108-110 at multi 35 if you have mems for it.

The indication that you have problems at 3.8ghz that would be à bclk of 108 multi 35.

Leave the bclk deafault 100 and change the multiplier instead havent clocked à 2600 but

À LOT 2700 , most be easy to hit 4.6 with decent vcore

Blck 100 x multi 46 = 4.6ghz

I have been leaving the blck at 100, never touched it before.

And I just set the multiplayer to what I want to achieve.

I have followed many guides on websites and YouTube but not one has ever been stable.

Every time I overclock and run prime I get a bsod code that indicates to increase vcore according to a guide I found on overclocks.net

Have you tried adjusting any other voltages such as VTT? If you give it that much vcore and it doesn't change the results, chances are it's not a vcore problem.

I have changed a few others according to some guides that I found.

I'm new to voltages and all that.

Does anyone have a guide I can follow to test and see how it goes then you will know what is set up and not in the bios?

I really want this fixed!

Is it only when stresstesting , its boot nice to 4.6 ?

Have you test to give the mems 1.6-1.65v ?

See that is GSkill Ares begin 1.55v up to 1.6v

I find the voltage readings from CPUZ very unreliable with my Gigabyte Z68. Instead, I use easytune. The voltages shown are much lower and imho more accurate.

Usually at the very start if stress testing, within in the first 5 seconds

But in fsx it will usually run until landing or approach sometimes mid flight

And on the rare case I have completed a flight!

Not sure if it helps but when it crashes when stress testing, it restarts itself then as soon as it posts it restarts and does this once more before actually starting.

What are your RAM settings? Are you using XMP? What voltage? Timings? Clockspeed? If your board cycle boots when OCing there's a good chance something's wrong with your RAM settings. Start there.
