October 17, 201213 yr Author As a person earlier mentioned to try higher i did. I just recently for a semi stable overclock at 4.4 with a vcore of 1.4v, any lower and it would bsod instantly. I changed the ram voltage from 1.5 up to 1.64 with a clock of 4.4 and it would still run the test for a couple of mins without blue screening at all. Sorry if I'm not making much sense, kinda new to over clocking. October 17, 201213 yr Ok, it's not RAM voltage then, more likely to be timings. Are you certain the RAM is running the correct timings according to its rating? Check for XMP also, if it supports it I do recommend enabling XMP.
October 17, 201213 yr Author I think they may be wrong. Thought I would flash my bios to f10 and turns out it disabled my USB ports and I can't seem to find my ps2 to USB adapter. October 18, 201213 yr Check for XMP also, if it supports it I do recommend enabling XMP. Yes this.... this is what allowed me to get to 4.4GHz on my 2500k... My CPU is apparently not a great OCer... and the easiest way I was able to get to 4.4Ghz was to set XMP profile in BIOS for the ram, and select auto vcore and simply change multiplier to 44x. the Vcore is a little high on auto (1.344v) but auto is the only way it would be stable. October 19, 201213 yr Author Thanks for the info I will try that I got it stable at 4.2 finally but voltages are a bit high. When you say your cpu is not a great overclocker, I have heard two of the same builds could run differently and one better than the other, like a car I guess. Is that purely just the CPU that won't allow the overclock as high as another or is it a combination of both CPU and mobo?
