October 22, 201213 yr Commercial Member True dat! FSX will never EVER die, knowing that it will likely never be replaced unless MS changes. This is because it is the best we have (unless of course Prepar3d takes over or MS comes back). We will always be developing for it to make it as up to date as possible with the ever changing real world, and so far its close. With a good system, NGX, awesome sceneries, and lots of other goodies, FSX is fantastic despite some of its bugs. It will be eventually replaced by something that is graphically superior enough, maybe X plane 11 to X plane 12.
October 22, 201213 yr Commercial Member Flight was worthwhile in at least one respect - it got me into FSX. It had been a lot of years since I'd flown anything on a computer that didn't shoot at things. It also convinced me to buy rudder pedals, and trying to tweak settings in it brought me here. Once here, I realized what else I was missing! It was sad, If only Flight would have been open to third parties, I think the story might have been different. I guess when you consider how much of FSX has been touched, if not completely replaced by incredibly talented developers over the years, while 'official' support is gone, it''s pretty darn healthy for such an old program. October 22, 201213 yr I bought FSX the day it came out, and it has turned into a new sim with every hardware system upgrade I've made over the years. Now I'm on a Word Not Allowed tuned I7 at 5ghz with the second fastest Nvidia card made and FSX is like a new sim again, but I still can't max everything out, so down the road when a newer faster system hits my desktop FSX will yet again be a fresh sim. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with FSX on your new rig Jim. Go for it! Chris Chris Strobel KSNA
