Cloud flickering above mountains

Featured Replies

I think this is an old issue, but recently I noticed a lot of cloud flickering above mountains, and it looks pretty messy. Does anyone have/remember the solution for this?

Are you using AS2012 or default weather? It's an issue with FSX so I assume it carried over to P3D. I still see them wth AS2012 but very rarely now, used to be al the time and it oked like spilled milk.

Hey thanks for the reply.... I've been using Opus lately, and I turned it off and tried it with Active Sky, and then I tested with the default P3D weather. It's really noticeable when I'm a few thousand feet over the clouds looking down into a mountain range, where the clouds intersect the mountain terrain the cloud edges jiggle and shimmer all over, it looks awful. I've tried playing with Inspector settings, deleting fsx.cfg, changing cloud textures in REX..................... still no fix.

I have same flickering with REXE. This doesn't occur always, it really depends how clouds are positioned and what is the angle. I haven't fiddled with REXE settings that much to find out if flickering can be cured. It really isn't that big problem for me as it occurs in certain occasions.

I experienced same with FSX also.

It's probably not very bothersome under most weather conditions, but is very apparent if the cloud layer is broken and lower than the mountain tops. If the layer is overcast it's not very noticeable, nor if the cloud layer tops are higher than the mountain tops. But in the case of say a 5/8 broken, it looks terrible. It happens to be with all varieties of cloud textures, from REX or other freeware. Perhaps it's an issue that should be taken up directly with P3D.
