October 22, 201213 yr If I start fsx acceleration then a openingsscreen appears from another game. I want to get rid of it but dont know where to search. The game itself I had removed it i.e uninstalled. there were a few other places where the game was located such as downloadsector etc. all removed went to the regedit and removed all. I also did the repair fuction of fsx i removed the cfg file etc. the only place where the openingscreen comes up is fsx i tried also fsx exe from the root the fireup but the same any idea where i can search more? paula
October 22, 201213 yr You should run a registry cleaner such as CCleaner (Google). I really don't know how it is possible for another game's opening screen to appear when you click on the FSX icon. I would completely uninstall Acceleration, then FSX, clean out all directories, then reinstall. This is the best explanation of uninstalling/reinstalling FSX/Acceleration. Hope this helps. October 23, 201213 yr Author Hi Jim, That is probebly the best but if I do that I have to reinstall everything and thats a hell of a lot. Its therefor I was looking at to try to get rid of it by means of searching the item hidden in a map or so. paula
October 23, 201213 yr Moderator When you say Opening Screen - what exactly do you mean? The small blue box that says Flight Sijmulator X or the screen where you select a flight? There is an option in the FSX.CFG file for "show opening screen" - change it andf see what happens. I can't recall the name of the bmp file that is displayed but IIRC it is in either the main FSX folder or the same location where the fsx.cfg file is found. Try looking for logo.bmp - just a guess. October 23, 201213 yr Author Vic, I dont mean the fsx screen that one is ok but the popup screen from another game. that comes always first and then comes the fsx screen but for some reason the fsx wont close correctly afterwoods so thats the reason i want to get rid off. paula
October 23, 201213 yr Moderator Are you running FSX from the start menu or a shortcut? Either way - delete the shortcut on desktop and using windows explorer, browse to your FSX folder, right click the FSX.EXE file and select copy. Then browse to your desktop - right click and select paste shortcut. See if that helps. Another option - go here - http://technet.micro...s/bb896645.aspx download and run process monitor - then run fsx and see if you can determine the filename of the screen that pops up. third option - look for a free version of REVO Uninstaller - it may find remnants of the original game and be able to remove same. You could also REINSTALL the original game and then uninstall with REVO. I'd work my way down the list - you'll find the culprit eventually. if you decide to try registry cleaners be careful to ONLY delete something when you know what it is. Good luck! October 23, 201213 yr This is the best explanation of uninstalling/reinstalling FSX/Acceleration. I forgot to add the link - http://support.precisionmanuals.com/KB/a87/how-to-uninstall-and-reinstall-fsx.aspx (just in case you have to do it).
