Help with ENB series...

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I could do with some advice and help with using the enb series mod. I have treied several times to use this mod but without any success. FSX either doesn't load, or only works in windowed mode (very odd.) Then when I do get it to work, things just don't work very fluid like. So each time I've dropped the idea. I run FSWC and also Shade, could these have anyting to do with it? Any suggestions will be gratefully received guys, cheers.

Hi Howard,

I've run the ENB mod with both FSWC and Shade and haven't had any issues per-se. I know every time I would load that mod and fire up my VA's ACARS app, it would crash FSX when I would get out of full screen mode. I got to a point where trying to fix it was taking more of my time than actually flying so I just gave up on it. There are quite a few different .DLL and .cfg files out there and everyone of them claim to work best with FSX but I have yet to find a "solid" combination.

Have you tried FXAA? Apparently that's the latest and greatest and a marked improvement over ENB. There's a thread around here somewhere talking about this new app and the file name in the library is FXAAToolHg6.zip. I would try this over trying to get ENB working for you.

Thanks a bunch Mike, appreciated. I'm a bit like you, if you're not careful it's too easy to spend too much time trying to get something to work at the expense of actual flying! I'll check out the FXAAToolHg6.zip, cheers.

Hello Howard,

I started experimenting with ENB a few days ago. Not surprisingly the configuration fle (ini) can 'make or break' this addon or rather addin. I ended up using the config file made by Nick Needham. Sim stays fluid, no performance hit whatsoever. I found Nick's file while searching 'ENB series'; regrettably cannot give you the link, but can send you the config file by means of PM/e-mail if you like. I also use FSWC, and can confirm that this doesn't interfere with ENB. By the way: Have to do some more trial flights, but to be honest I'm not really impressed by ENB (yet?).

Kind regards,

René
