October 26, 201213 yr So Yesterday I was flying in KFLL and I love really close and the weather was very bad, lots of cloud. When I get to FLL in FSX almost nor clouds around........I feel like theres never enough clouds with Active Sky.....Can anyone please help?
October 27, 201213 yr Commercial Member Are you using DWC mode with "Prevent Cloud Redraws"? If so, this is most likely the reason. Prevent cloud redraws prevents updates to the global cloud depiction by design. Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies

October 27, 201213 yr Commercial Member Let me rephrase... If you have "DWC" depiction mode active, and you also have "Prevent Cloud Redraws" option checked, then updates to the global clouds will not occur by design (that is what Prevent Cloud Redraws means). So whatever you take off with will essentially be the same throughout the flight. So, if this is the case, you have options. Make sure "Local station writes with DWC" is checked to help provide localized cloud updates to provide variation/changes within the local visible area. Or disable Prevent Cloud Redraws so the cloud depiction changes. Or use Smooth Cloud or Standard depiction mode which uses station-based weather depiction mode and always updates clouds. October 27, 201213 yr Commercial Member The option names are as described above. They are located in the general and cloud options tabs. If you'd like a visual of this, please see the manual, which also goes over more detail on these options. Worth a read! Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies

October 27, 201213 yr Commercial Member Under Visibilty Options try lowering the Upper and Surface visibilty settings. I have more clouds here then I know what do do with. My option settings are pinned at the top of the forum page. Works great with the hurricanes also. Regards, Dave Opper HiFi Support Manager

October 29, 201213 yr Damian, I use DWC mode without "Prevent Cloud Redraws" and without "Local Station Writes with DWC", but just yesterday I took off with a broken coverage and, after about 100-200 miles, the clouds completely disappeared, to re-appear after some time with a new and thin coverage, although the local metar was still reporting broken conditions. Are there any other settings I should check in order to avoid clouds disappearing? I want to remain stuck with DWC, because the other modes return unconsistent winds aloft outside the departure-arrival area. Will SP2 have an improvement in cloud drawing mechanism? Thank you. October 31, 201213 yr Commercial Member Hi James, It may be normal for conditions to be different than what the "closest" station is reporting. I.e. if there are other nearby stations with differing conditions. As you fly of course the conditions will update to the interpolated weather at your current position. If you can duplicate an apparent problem here, please open a ticket with the details so I can try and reproduce on my end and see if there is something going wrong. Thank you!
