October 30, 201213 yr I am still at war with AutoGen. Whenever the autogen is selected I get Texture flashes all over the place. I know this subject has been touched on so many times and I'm sorry but when I see so many others having zero problems it really bugs me. I run WIN 7 64 Bit I7 sandy bridge (not overclocked) have the EVGA 580 GTX plus 16 Gig Ram A brand new install (from Windows up) Set the nvidia inspector according to PMDG config Added Highmem and vsync to FSX.ini That is all. Have I missed something ? Any help will be very, very much appreciated Kind Regards , Rick Melcher RICK MELCHER Melbourne, Australia Frustrated armchair Pilot
October 30, 201213 yr Hi Rick, texture flashes are normally associated with graphics overload of the GPU, too much data being sent from the buffer. This is normally associated with the introduction of the Bufferpools tweak and can often be alleviated by using the High x 2 water setting in the FSX panel. However, if you do not have any such tweak as you have said, then it is a matter of reducing the extra load on your system. You say that it bothers you that others are not having problems, but of course that is purely dependent upon what settings and tweaks they are running with. Another thing that may cause an issue is the video driver. However, why don't you try adjusting the inspector settings, I have found that simply one incorrect selection can cause graphical issues. So there are a few things you could try Rick, trying each one, or a combination, can have a dramatic effect. November 4, 201213 yr Author Thank you Rockliffe Have tried plenty of settings but no luck Then I went into DX10 preview mode and this stops the Flashing of Autogen but screen tears as I lost Vsync from DX9. I applied Steve Parsons DX10 shader FIX It solves the following ; 1) Flashing runways and Runway markings that flicker 2) White and yellow Runways markings interleaving 3) Chain fences that become opaque as the viewing angle changes 4) Progressive Taxi markings missing 5) Missing Night objects - bridges, buildings etc. From the London Eye, to Tower bridge much of the scenery disappears at night with DX10. This patch addresses the issue. 6) Minor DX10 issues with Orbix car headlights and runway transparency 7) Jagged VC Shadowmap 8) More Shadowmap improvements (Thank you Steve) Then the last step was to force Vsync on in NvidiaInspector. So now FSX runs as It would in DX9 (might even be slightly better for me in DX10) and the Autogen texture Flashes/Flickering has also ceased. Thank you for your advise. Any help will be very, very much appreciated Kind Regards , Rick Melcher When will people realize that a software bug/memory leak will never ever be fixed by throwing hardware at the problem? There is nothing you can do to fix this issue, except to hack the sim and fix the code that is broken. Your only option is to disable autogen, or live with the problems it causes. I've no idea how many times I have written this, but it gets ignored every time. FSX HAS SERIOUS CODING PROBLEMS. NO CONFIG FILE TWEAK OR EXPENSIVE HARDWARE WILL EVER FIX IT. Advantages of disabling autogen: * Reduced/avoid memory leaks/corruption * Reduction of some CTDs * Elimination of other CTDs caused by AutoGen memory corruption Disadvantages of enabling autogen: * Increase in memory leaks/corruption * Increase in CTDs * Texture corruption * sigh * Best regards, Robin.
