Worth upgrading CPU?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've currently got an i5 2500k which is maxed at 4.3Ghz oc. I was wondering if it was worth upgrading to an i7 3770k or i5 3570k?

I'd just like to max out setting etc.

No. Too close performance wise for an upgrade. Unless money grows on trees in your yard and you will de-lid the i7.

Hello

It is not your i52500K that is maxed, there is more Ghz in there, but something is holding it back.

What motherboard and ram do you have ?

No. To max out FSX with a few addons we need a 6GHz cpu. So to most people your idea would be a waste of money. If you have money burning a hole in your pocket, get the fastest cpu and water cooler and overclock to the max you can.

I've always thought there was more in the chip but anything past 4.3 and I BSOD on boot. Current setup is:

16gb Kingston HyperX DDR3 12800c9 1600Mhz

AsRock Extreme4 Gen3 z68 motherboard

i5 2500k @ 4.3Ghz (H20 water cooler)

AMD 6950 2Gb (6970 Bios)
