FPS Limit

Featured Replies

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I have tried searching for a solution, and I just can't find one. I use the External FPS Limiter 0.2 to limit my FPS to 30. It used to work without fail earlier, but I found that 30 was a little overkill, so I decided to change it to 25. When I open the new .bat file, the cmd window opens for one second and then closes, and FSX does not open.

Here are the contents of the batch file:

start C:\"Users\Temp\Desktop\FSX Stuff\"FPS_Limiter.exe /r:D3D9 /f:30 /x:OFF /l:OFF "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\fsx.exe

(The location of the FPS Limiter is on my desktop in a folder called FSX Stuff)

I'm not using the external framerate limiter, I'm using the internal, so I'm not familiar with the parameters of fps_limiter.exe, but I do know some batch scripting and it appears that there's a problem with your syntax. Try this instead

start "C:\Users\Temp\Desktop\FSX Stuff\FPS_Limiter.exe" /r:D3D9 /f:30 /x:OFF /l:OFF "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\fsx.exe"

BTW, if I were to guess I'm guessing that you havent set the limiter to 25, but rather 30 (the (/f parameter)

Thanks for your prompt response, but unfortunately, the string you sent me did not work either. I did recently change my username on my computer from Temp to my Actual name, and the file is inside the User/Temp folder. Could this be the cause of my problem?

Make sure you are opening the command window with right-click > "run as administrator".

Arzaan,

Did you ever try my guide as an alternative approach? Until now, many users have been very very happy.

Hi Arzaan,

I am the party who first published a challenge for someone to find a utility that could limit frames outside of FSX, and a kind fellow responded w/ the external limiter you are using. I found the utility did exactly what I had hoped, however, as an nVidia Inspector user have moved on to using the built-in tools there: an external frame limiter, or more recently the 1/2 the refresh rate (60Mhz) limiter, both of which work just as the utility you are using, with the exception of no keyboard control over the frame rate. Anyway, it's low maintenance for what it's worth. I am not on my PC at this moment but will look at my old batch file to see how it compares to yours in a few.
