vox atc ai traffic parked in static park bays

Featured Replies

Hi everyone , here's an odd one , I have horizon gen x v3 for UK + all the vfr airports/fields , I am getting vox atc placing ai traffic where the airfields packages are placing static aircraft , ie , at raf valley I have a few lines of black bae hawks & when I enable vox atc those hawks grow default microlight wings , weird , is there a fix for this as it really does spoil the immersion.thanks.

In the UK2000 airfield config prog - turn off static/parked aircraft. you can do it for the whole area, easy. Otherwise you'd have to alter the AFCAD. happens with other fields as well from other makers. at least its easy with the VFr ones, otherwise you have to delete the bgl's which aren't always easy to identify. This is assuming its UK2000 parked. my parking is full of MAIW AI hawks at certain times so it's turn off the AI.

thanks for the reply , yes it is uk 2000 .

valley for one is full of hawks static & aircraft flying in & out in the real world , as you most likely already know.

I like the static black hawks & it would be a real shame to shut them down to replace them with flex wing microlights , which I think in all my visits to raf valley I have never seen A microlight of any description.

if the vox atc ai traffic for that airfield were hawks or other mil jets I wouldnt mind getting rid of the statics, but I do like ai traffic running also .

I probably will have to decide one or the other.

A trick - I have UT2 installed which disables default. I then have add-on MAIW and UKMIL traffic installed, particularly for EGOV, the MAIW (converted for FSX) Hawks are then the only "normal" AI controlled by the airliner slider on FSX. GA on FSX set to none Then when in Vox,i disable the UT2 traffic and you get Vox ATC injected and the mil only. To do the same without UT2 just disable all the non-Mil AI. You'll get Valley with loads of AI (black) Hawks parked and flying, according to realsistic conditions. You'll probably find Vox replaces the trikes with the MAIW Hawks after indexing . . you need Hawks in your AI If using the MAIW traffic, then you'll need the appropriate .bgl's in the scenery/world/scenery or higher active scenery folder. MAIW on the site and links to convertor for FSX, also voiecpacks to get callsigns instead of numbers. I also have AI |Sea Kings flying. The MAIW also includes Hawk and other AI and traffic for other stations, not all trainers!

(it's easier if you keep all AI in a seperate folder in simojects and add the path in the fsx.cfg)

I currently have just flights traffic x , but not the mil add on , although there is just available now for pre purchase the latest incarnation if traffic x , being called traffic 360 I think , it ships with all the add ons + lots more newer effects & sounds , I was considering getting the upgrade at the lower pre purchase price , do you think I could go about a similar route you did to get the right traffic at the right airfield , thanks for your help & suggestions .

I have no idea if traffic X disables the FSX default AI. But would suggest you will not get anywhere near as good as the MAIW for, for example, the Hawks. VoxATC will only control its own AI and will stick something suitable if available at airfields you are using. hence the trikes at EGOV - as you have no AI hawks in your setup. Now I believe Traffic X actually injects AI the same way as FSX - so it'll be controlled by the same sliders. so if you used MAIW it may conflict with Traffic X and VoxATC. ideally you want , when in VoxAT, to disable the FSX default AI and any other, just leaving the MAIW mil. If you use a seperate AI folder or not, just move out the AI you don't want to see to another folder, after running the aircraft set up and indexer. Vox ATC will then have its own aircraft to contol and your other traffic program you should disable (as in UT2 or move the AI out as above if it just uses AI in the SimObjects. If you just have the MAIW Ai, it may well be that VoxATC has seen and indexed it in and will control it. If not you can see it via the FSX slider

I know Traffic or My traffic supposedly has military - but shouldn't think it will fill Valley with hawks. UT2 of course doesn't have mil.

don't hesitate to ask, i've got the time

Thanks, ok I have downloaded the hawks & seakings for egov from maiw , downloaded maiw software as the pdf instructs , created the virtual fs9 folder & further sub folders . I am having trouble with the right click , new , any folder type , to make it be seen as an exe file. I have win 7 64 bit op system. The maiw files installed into the folder ok but the maiw software when launched & pointed to the fs9 virtual folder just keeps opening into the sub folders, effects , scenery etc , so its not seing the fs9 folder as an exe file , I tried renaming it fs9.exe but that made no difference.

It's obvious I haven't done something right but hopefully you will have some ideas , thanks again for your help.

Hmm, not sure. you shouldn't need any .exe? You need to use tips from http://www.interkultur.de/gossmann/fsx/index.php

to get this stuff into FSX. Particularly the instructions here http://www.interkultur.de/gossmann/fsx/pfn/accion.php?PHPSESSID=47faf90cc1c61fb53e3c2611baf45115&dir=.&cal=MAIW_FSX_Installation_Guide.pdf&accion=descargar

to get this stuff in. the latter goes into detail about setting the FS9, getting the AI/Traffic and converting. There should be no need to see any folder as an .exe. look at the "Owl's Nest" stuff. you should be getting an FS9 dummy with all the AI aircraft and the appropriate traffic files for the scenery folder. "Owl's" will convert the AI and traffic .bgl's to FSX and you just make sure in right places. The FS9 folders are not "virtual" they are real folders as per Windows. They're just there till you convert and load into FSX. Do you have the AI and traffic .bgl's in these FS9 folders?

its the ade9x enviroment checker that isn't seeing the fs9 folder, not sure why I need this program though, yes I have the bgl files, I thought it was the ade9x enviroment that puts the files into fsx?

Don't know what you're using ADE9 for - its and airport design editor , build AFCADS etc. Are you following the Owl's Nest instructions?. Otherwise, you need to convert the AI aircraft and put in your simobjects/airplanes folder in FSX or they may not need converting. What you then need is AIFP (AI Flight Planner) or similar, to convert the FS9 traffic bgls to FSX. You point it at the folder containing the traffic files and tell it what do, convert and - e.g. tag FSX bgls. You can point it at any folder which has them, it will check all sub-folders as well. Usually just point at FSX main folder, or in this case the FS9 folder you created. Then move the FSX versions to FSX scenery/world/scenery. See the MAIW FSX manual link here http://www.interkultur.de/gossmann/fsx/pfn/navega.php?id=1&PHPSESSID=b71d3d6d86a0b0c2677d59b9d086f7ea

section 6 although that covers scenery as well. Just put the traffic bgls in a folder anywhere or leave in the FS9 folder whereever. Run AIFP on the folder to convert the bgls then move them to FSX scenery/world/scenery. don't forget if you have evn one FS9 traffic bgl in the FSX folders, no, traffic at all will show. I don't think you actuall have to convert the AI aircraft themselves but can't remember. read all the Owl's stuff. to check but then its just move the AI into simobjects/airplanes

Ok , thanks . I have been following the pdf manual on owls nest , that's why I installed ade9 , I created a folder in sim objects called maiw , then in fax cfg added the line sim objects maiw as in instructions with the next available number .now I need to convert the files to fsx.

<p>vrs_supporter.png

Paul Sleight

Yeh, i just put all in an AI folder as it wasn't just MAIW I was doing. I have ADE9 but not used it - as the Owl says, it's AIFP for converting

Mmm , obviously something wrong somewhere , sim has gone really stuttery & no ai , I now have traffic 360 so I'm Hoo.g to switch off vox atc traffic & see what traffic 360 gives at valley . Thanks for your help.

Aaah! I'm afraid you need to be aware that Traffic uses the FSX AI injection method. (UT2 and VoxATC do not - you set the FSX trafic sliders to the left.) Traffic was always a FPS basher because of this - as you no doubt know FSX AI method is a notorious killer of FPS. Sorry. Good news though is I've been testing Vox traffic at Valley with UT2 turned off - and get plenty of Hawks - it's using the MAIW AI I have installed so no FSX injection and no microlights. Just make sure you have the aircraft all set by the configurator.

Dunno what setup you have but you need a good one to not have FPS problems using FSX (Traffic) type AI. Keep trying, there's always a way.

(how do I edit a post?) I have Tiffies as well at Valley via VoxATC - I do have them in my AI aircraft of course

Edit: I couldn't edit my last post but can this - weird?
