OpusFSX Manual 'Load Dynamic Weather'

Featured Replies

Today I had a flight from LHBP (Budapest) to LQSA (Sarajevo) and just before TOD (75 miles from LQSA) i select from Add-on menu 'Load Dynamic Weather'. After that I check LQSA ATIS and it reported 'Visibility=2' (fog). When I was about 50 miles from LQSA I again clicked 'Load Dynamic Weather' and ATIS reported 'Visibility > 20miles'. On 25 miles from LQSA again: 1. 'Load Dynamic Weather'. 2. 'Visibility > 20miles'. And finally after landed: 1. 'Load Dynamic Weather'. 2. 'Visibility = 2 miles' - fog again. I use all Opus Weather default settings except 'Disable mist effect' which is unchecked.

Why this is happening? I can't believe that data on meteo servers are changed tree times in 20 minutes.

My OpusFSX version is 2.30

System: XP sp3

FSX SP2

I did't saw ground on approach because fog layer bellow. But when I was about 1500 feet AGL on final, fog disapper bellow and remained above. Visibility around airport was as reported, greater then 20 miles. After I stoped and choosed 'Load Dynamic Weather' again, fog appeared and visibility reduced to 2 miles.

Hi

It may have happened to pick out another METAR from an adjacent cell you flew into.

If you come across any anomalies relating to the Live Weather Engine (LWE) you would like us to check out then please use either the following or alternate procedure listed below  ...

1.

Pause the sim and immediately take a copy of your c:\OpusFSX\Themes\OpusWeather.txt file. This file contains all the downloaded METARs used to construct your weather grid. I am able to import these same METARs using the 'Import METAR Data From File' option within the weather dialog, and hence recreate your exact wearther. Albeit using different cloud and sky textures.

2.

Make a note of your Dynamic Weather Settings in the Weather dialog. Disabled Cirrus, fog efects, mist effects, max surface vis setting, refresh rate and distance etc.

3.

Make a note of where you are flying, the current weather grid covers and area of 300 x 300 miles and the weather is very localised and detailed. It is not like we can just take off anywhere in this grid and see the same as you saw. If you are not sure at least let me know what airport you took off from, what direction you was heading and approximately how far you had flown.

4.

Email me all the above details and accompanying OpusWeather.txt file, accompanied with a screen shot if you can, but a description will do fine.

[email protected]

Of course please make sure you have disabled any other weather engines and in addition disabled/removed all their visibility and fog effects.

Regards

Cheryl

Thank You for support and detailed answer. Generally I am very satisfied with Opus Weather and now everything works fine. Problem I described was, I believe, single case.
