November 1, 201213 yr Sometimes, well, a lot of times, the ASI in my aircraft fails for no reason whatsoever. All aircraft are default. When the ASI fails, the only thing I can use is the reported Mach speed from VORTAC's. Only once, however, the ASI failed, came back to life, failed, etc in the same flight. Well, it was a flight video (which I recorded if you want to see it). Also, it only happens in jet aircraft. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know of a solution? Apparently, things are really hot when fresh from the oven, or so I hear. I think we need to test this theory.
November 1, 201213 yr Do you have the pitot heat and de-ice on? Pitot icing would be my guess. Mike Mike Dryden
November 1, 201213 yr Author That very well may be the problem. I'll have to try it later (I'm at college right now). Apparently, things are really hot when fresh from the oven, or so I hear. I think we need to test this theory.
November 2, 201213 yr Author Yup, that was it. Why it waited a year to actually simulate that, I don't know. Thank you. Apparently, things are really hot when fresh from the oven, or so I hear. I think we need to test this theory.
November 2, 201213 yr As has been said....you switch on Pitot Heat for your air Gauges, the same as we Normally Aspirated Piston Prop Pilots switch on Carburettor Heat...to avoid Carburettor Icing.... ...! Any possibility of entering Icing conditions and on go Pitot Heat and Carb Heat! Paul... :Big Grin: ...! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pitot_tube http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carburetor_heat .
