November 9, 201213 yr Hiya, I've gone from FS9 to P3D without having FSX at any point. My favourite GA for procedural training is a Cessna 172 but apart from the option of porting over the default FSX one (which I don't have) are there any modern 172's (I'm aware of the Caranedo one, but I would like modern avionics, autopilot etc) available for P3D? Will the A2A one have a P3D installer when it come out or are there any other options? Thanks, Paul
November 11, 201213 yr Commercial Member From what I have been reading in the FSX forums the default FSX C172 is actually one of the better models simulated with regards to default. And this is coming from real C172 pilots. What they suggest is d/l a FS2004 air file from RealAir and plug that in. That's what I am gonna do to check 'er out. You say you do not have FSX. Just checked on Amazon. You can pick up a standard, used FSX for as little as $6.50. Cheap way to go to port over the Cessna. Plus you got a dozen other planes you could port as well. Not a bad way to go. Intel i9-12900KF, Asus Prime Z690-A MB, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, (3) SK hynix M.2 SSD (2TB ea.), 16TB Seagate HDD, Gigabyte GeForce 5080 RTX, Corsair iCUE H70i AIO Liquid Cooler, UHD/Blu-ray Player/Burner (still have lots of CDs, DVDs!) Windows 10, (hold off for now on Win11), EVGA 1300W PSUNetgear 1Gbps modem & router, (3) 27" 1440 wrap-around displaysFull array of Bravo, Saitek and GoFlight hardware for the cockpit. Varjo and HP VR headsets for mixed reality.
December 3, 201213 yr Author Yes, that might be the way forward. I'll have a shop around for a copy of FSX. Am I best avoiding 2nd hand copies because of online registration issues? I did port over my FS9 Flight1 172 which surprisingly works! It looks great in VC mode but doesn;t work 2d as the POV from the front is looking at the ground! Also there's a big frame rate hit, but the flight model works fine. Thanks for your help.
December 3, 201213 yr The A2A Warbirds install flawlessly into P3D,I'd guess The upcoming C172 would do the same,RealAir is also making a C172,Not sure about compatibility with P3D though. 100%75%50%d8a34be0e82d98b5a45ff4336cd0dddc Patrick
