Hi,

I recently brought fs9 and installed it on my laptop. I then went to: http://www.whatismyscreenresolution.com/ and it told me that my screen res was 1366 x 768. I then selected 1366 x 768 x 32 on flight simulator and the UI turns into a really small box centered in the middle of the screen with a big black border around it.

Thanks for any help,

Marcus

This is normal, there is nothing to worry about. The UI itself is a 800 x 600 rectangle.

Hi,

Thanks for replying. Is it also normal for the actual gameplay to be in the same small square

Are you running FS9 in window mode or full screen? If you are running it windowed then what you are seeing is normal. If you wish to continue in that mode try "maximize'.If performance is not a issue then you might also try the full screen mode.

Sorry it has taken until now to get back to you. First just to start, double check to make sure your laptop's screen is actually set to 1366 x 768 x 32. Just in case you don't know and not meaning to be condescending at all. Windows XP - right click anywhere on the unoccupied desktop, on the menu that opens click on properties. On the Display Properties window that open click on the Settings tab. You'll see your settings there. On Windows7 right click on the desktop and on the menu that opens select Graphics Properties, check your settings there.

Please let me know which OS you are using as that may help point to the cause. If you are running W7, even though you are or did set FS to 1366 x 768, those changes may not be saved in the FS9.cfg file because of permissions or security setting. With either OS you might want to track down the FS9.cfg file and open it with notepad to verify what display settings are actually there. Look for: [Display.Device. ( a name here ) ]

Here is mine as a example;

[DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280.0]

Mode=1680x1050x32

MipBias=8

I hope this will help you or at least start eliminating what isn't the cause - process of elimination.

Mel

Hi,

Thanks for all your help. I got it fixed by re-installing flight simulator.
