November 15, 201213 yr Hi all. I tried failing an engine driven generator on short final during approach with LAND 3 (fail op). This resulted in the autopilot disconnecting. I understood that any single failure wouldn't prevent an auto land with a LAND 3 annunciation? What am I missing? Thanks. Jordan Forrest
November 17, 201213 yr I think answer can be found on FCOM vol2, page 4.20.20 and 4.20.3. If generator fails with both A/Ps engaged, then you will have to land manually. You can also go-around, connect APU gen and then autoland. If an engine fails and the APU is not used to provide a second electrical source, NO AUTOLAND is annunciated and autoland with rollout is prohibited. If an engine fails and the APU is used to provide a second electrical source prior to engagement of the second autopilot, a fail-passive autoland (LAND 2) with rollout... Dual channel A/P operation is possible only when two generators are powering the busses. Rostyslav S Wanna fly 737NGX with turbulence?
