737NG iPad Application by Bill Bulfer

Featured Replies

I got an email notice that I wanted to share.

Anyone who loves the PMDG 737NGX is probably familiar with Bill Bulfer's 737 manuals. They are outstanding and written for professional 737 pilots.

Well, for those of you that have the iPad 2 or later, he now makes his manuals as an iPad application.

The QRG is especially interesting, and during an emergency or abnormal flight procedure, can be quickly referenced for the proper procedures.

These apps seem to be very reasonably priced, and knowing how thorough his manuals are, I assume they are very well written and professional.

Unfortunately, I bought an iPad 2 for my wife, but never got myself one. :t0103:

I'm pretty sure that many of you have them

B737 Cockpit Companion

Many of you have asked for it, and we are excited to to finally announce, effective November 8, the availability of B737 Cockpit Companion for iPad (CCIPAD)*. This is an app version of the book. It's taken us nearly a year to get this out, but we think it is worth the delay: we have developed a sophisticated publishing system that lets us produce a very useful app. The initial release focuses on the -700, with the -600 and -800 to be added as a free update in late November.

Database Update

We've already released a database update for version 1.0. The Apple app review process normally takes a week or so, and we've developed a huge amount of additional content since submitting the app. So be sure to download this via the App's Info/Update Database button. We recommend doing this on Wi-Fi (not a phone carrier's network).

B737 Alerts and B737 QRG

Our other apps, B737 Alerts and B737 QRG, are also available. Since the functionality is part of CCIPAD, we are dropping the price of the Alerts and QRG apps. We are going to continue maintaining and supporting these two products, as well as converting the QRG to an iPhone-friendly version. We will have updates available later this month.

Let me know what you think of them and I may go out and buy me an iPad.

Bob, I'm also toying with the idea of getting this, though I have his other manuals in paper form so I don't really want to double-up. However, I'm slowly moving over to a paperless cockpit so I'm very tempted. Im sure the ipad version has more content too.

I'd also like to hear anyone's thoughts on it.

I bought it a few days ago. It's impressive how much stuff is in this app. I own the cockpit companion and the FMC book too. I think that for me it was the right decision to buy the app in addition to the books.

You get the QRH as well in the app. Not covered at the moment is the FMC. But it's only a question of time and they will add this stuff.

For me the books from Bill Bulfer are my alternative to the PMDG manuals. Because since I live in Europe and the shipping costs are very high and there is no other way to get them (other than the PDF) I decided to buy the books from Bill.

I just checked the AppStore but I was a bit shocked by the price. €55! Since The NGX is by far my favorite aircraft I'll probably end up buying it, but I will hold off on it for now.

Wow, I thought it was more like 40 EUR.

Still, if they do include the FMC information in the future (i.e. for free) it will be a worthwhile investment.

I expect it to be a free upgrade then.

I hope so. I've just bought it. £40 in the UK, so lets hope they add some more content to it.

It's worth the money though. From the hour or so I've spent looking throught it, it's very rich in content. The interface is good too and allows you to find things easily. The schematics are plentiful and are high resolution, which makes them easy to read.

Very nice indeed.
