Hello everyone,

I am just in the middle of re-installing FSX after an issue made me uninstall everything. I kept important things like a copy of my old .cfg so I could scan it to find settings I liked etc. It was a bummer I had to uninstall FSX because it was running beautifully.

 

Anyway, I thought I'd take this chance because I am starting from scratch to see if anybody has opinions and suggestions for my .cfg.

 

It should also be stated that I do have a high powered system. 4.5ghz, i7 2600k, 580GTX, 2TB HD, 8GB RAM, Corsair H80 Cooling

Thanks Word Not Allowed, going through it now. May I ask what "maximum pre-rendered frames = 1" means? I see it in you nvidiainspector settings. Mine is currently default selected to 3.

Uh you don't have to set your frames to 30 I se mine to unlimited, and I get 10+ more frames than usual.

I can run unlimited and be in the 100s FPS but it's not about that.

Your right it isn't, but when I comes to addons like the PMDG 737NGX, my frames will consistantly be in the 40's, rather then sometimes dip below 30 if I lock them at 30.

The beauty of FSX tweaking! Hahaha What works for some, might not work for others. Now that you mention it, I'll probably be doing some experimenting myself with FPS unlocked and see if smoothness and IQ are affected. Since I don't use any addons such as the NGX because I am building a home cockpit, I wonder if i could get away with 60 FPS locked at lower IQ settings such as 4xAA and 2xSGSS... Hmmmmm See what you have done now! LOL

Word Not Allowed, whats the tweak which stops the black surface texture loading? Is it LOD? Because when I am panning outside my aircraft and just looking around I don't want to keep getting the black loading tiles on the surface, I didn't used to get that on my old FSX install.

I had to bump my texturemaxload to 9 and that cured the black tiles. Not to be confused with texture_max_load.

I don't seem to have a texturemaxload in my .cfg. I think I removed it after I saw a tweak somewhere a while back.

 

Does anybody also know what DisablePreload=0 does?

FSX is designed for fps to be locked at 40 and below. Unlimited is just for testing. 30 is the optimum since it is half the refresh rate of most monitors and should be the smoothest.

Add it to your display section. It cured the flashing black tiles completely for me. Give it a go. Set it at 9 to start.

Ok Ill give it a shot. Man it was really bad a second ago, when I was on approach the flashing wouldn't stop. Strange. This is my first flight after a completely fresh fsx install.

 

Weird also how Dave you have swap_wait under graphics but in my .cfg its under terrain?

Mine did it terribly as well when I first installed. That cured it hopefully it works for you.
