November 20, 201213 yr Hi guys, I think this one can be answered pretty quickly. Before purchasing Opus, I was always under the impression that the weather injection was done smoothly and not in a single inject. Is this the case? I have noticed that there have been several instances when flying and the weather has change instantly, such as few clouds to lots within a second. Is this normal and if so is there a way of reducing this effect? Thanks for a great product, cheers. November 20, 201213 yr If the METAR changes in the direction you're looking, you'll see the clouds instantly change to match it. Larry Hookins Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
November 20, 201213 yr Author Ah, OK, that's more or less what I thought. Thanks for the clairification Larry, cheers. November 20, 201213 yr Commercial Member Currently we stick rigidly to the METARs where available and smooth in between. We are going to introduce further weather smoothing in the future. At the moment you can either increase your weather update times to say 30 mins so that there is not too long an interval between METAR updates (i.e. longer interval can mean more abrupt updates), or go to the other extreme and disable updates after the start of your flight so that you see no changes at all - if you are happy to fly this way. November 20, 201213 yr Author Thanks Cheryl, I have my updates set at 10mins... and 100Km HowardMSI Mag B650 Tomahawk MB, Ryzen7-7800X3D CPU@5ghz, Arctic AIO II 360 cooler, Nvidia RTX4090 GPU, 32gb DDR5@6000Mhz, SSD/2Tb+SSD/500Gb+OS, Corsair 1000W PSU, LG Ultragear 48"4K, MFG Crosswinds, TQ6 Throttle, Fulcrum One YokeMy FlightSim YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@skyhigh776
November 20, 201213 yr I can confirm what was stated before. I landed in ATL this morning and the METAR had clouds Broken at 3000, 5000 and 15000. When I got to the gat I sat and watched a bit. All of a sudden the weather changed and I thought it was perhaps a popping issues but I checked the ATL METAR and it had updated to Scattered at 7500 and Broken at 15000. So the abrupt cloud change is indeed the METAR itself being updated and not an issue with the weather in general.
