SweetFX not working?

Featured Replies

I have installed it correct, I think, but nothing is different in FSX. I also tried several different people's configurations, none seem to work. I must be doing something wrong then :(

Any ideas?

You need to be sure! ^_^

Did you unzip all files into the main FSX folder? Did you actually turn things on in the setting txt file (change 0 to 1 at the top for the options you want to use)?

Everything is in the main FSX folder. What about the subfolders? Am I supposed to empty their contents into FSX? At the moment I have the file structure as given.

I have the setting all from 0 to 1 too.

Make sure you have disabled AA via the FSX menu and enabled via the driver ;-)

I haven't done that. Thank you for the tip, I'm going to go try it out. I'll report back :)

I've only just started to try SweetFX, so no expert, but this may help. Happy to be corrected.

1. Under Windows 8 I can only get it to work with FSX in DX10 Preview mode so far.

2. Make sure that in FSX the "Scroll Lock" key is not assigned to something else under Controls. If it is change or delete the assignment.

3. "Scroll Lock" will then switch SweetFX effects on and off. It starts "on" as the default.

4. To apply a SweetFX change click on the PC's "Pause/Break" key. (Not "P" for FSX pause).

There is a graphical interface available for SweetFX that makes making changes much easier.

Find it here: http://sweetfx.thelazy.net/

I downloaded the standalone version (scroll down the page a bit) and just unzipped its contents into the designated SweetFX Configurator folder and sub-folders. These can be placed anywher on your PC.

You then start the configurator, set it up to find your main FSX folder and it will import the necessary SweetFX files into the FSX folder (you can add other games too).

I make and test SweetFX changes with FSX in Window mode using the configurator. If you have more than one monitor I think you have to have both the FSX window and the configurator windows on the same monitor.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! It works for me now. But only in DX10 preview mode in FSX, is this normal? Is there some way of getting it to work without it? My computer has DX11 but I don't think it has anything to do with FSX.

Thank you for helping me :)

what happens is that if it is the DX10 preview the difference in views will be very little, this works better under DX10 and DX11
