FlightSim Commander 7.2

Featured Replies

Does anyone here use this utility? If so, how does it compare to FS Navigator? Sadly, simmamrket refuses to replace my FS Navigator key and I now must consider other alternatives. It IS slightly cheaper.

Great question. I hope someone is able to give the pros and cons for both of these programs.

Hello,I just got tht FSC 7.2 about 2 hours ago. I try a lot of stuff so I'm not the greatest reviewer! With that said, I like this a lot. I can set it up on my second display or on my Project Magenta network and run it while I fly. The flight planning seems to work great and the printouts are first rate for my use - General Info, Departure and Arrival, Fuel Planning, etc. The moving map works fine on my second display and does not seem to drag down my performance at all! It has a small GPS info screen on the flight sim and lets you select whatever you want on the screen (map). The flight info on the map is great - freqs, etc and the ILS charts seem fine. There is a database generator that lets you update the files from DAFIF info that you can download (free!) each month. The manual tells you how to update and the system seems to work fine. I did the update and the info looks OK to me (I'm not an expert here!) The fuel planning links to the flight plan that you set up and to the plan you select. It seems to be getting a lot of info from my FF2004 files also (Airports, plans, etc)There is also a BLACK BOX to record/playback flights - I have not gotten into it yet.I would give this a 9 out of 10 SO FAR. You can get a demo version which is only time limited when you run it - about 30 minutes each time - you can restart it over and over!Thats all for now - Ron Sagelnear KCHS

Thanks for the info Ron!

I was considering purchasing this a while back, mainly for the ability to use it on a second PC which you can't do with FSNav.However I did have at least one concern about the database updates and thank Ron for mentioning updates in his post.If the navdata can only be updated from the DAFIF then I will not be purchasing it. Richard Steffan's sterling work on monthly navdata updates has shown that the DAFIF data is somewhat lacking, especially in areas outside the USA. As I mainly fly in Europe I need the full data that Richard supplies.
