Saitek Pro Flight Yoke

Featured Replies

Its that time of year again where your old joystick (4 Year old Logitech Attack 3) is dropping to bits and you need a new one. This time I want to go all out and try something new, thats why Im looking at the Saitek Pro Flight Yoke with Throttle quadrant and rudder pedals.

What is your feedback on this set, and is it worth the money?

Regards, Ciaran.

I've had this thing and it's absolutely crap. Infact, I've had two of those. First of all there's only 45 degrees of rotation (90 in total). Secondly, the elevator axis is a bit sticky but not that bad. The aileron axis however, is the worst: after a while the lubcrication inside the yoke seems to become bad which makes the yoke feel and sound squeeky when slowly moving the aileron axis. After 6 months, mine simply died: short-circuit, the shop said after I sent it back. Luckily they sent me a new one for free which had the exact same problems regarding the axis'. This one lasted a year but again it short-circuited eventually just because I tried plugging my switch panel into it. For the rest, the throttle quadrant is fine, and so is are the Pro Flight Rudder Pedals.

What I recommend? The Saitek Pro Flight Cessna Yoke: http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/cessnayoke.html

I know it's also Saitek and it's a little more expensive, but it's at least 10 times as good. I've had it for over a year now, with absolutely zero problems and it works like a charm. First of all there is twice as much aileron travel; 90 degrees, and 180 degrees total. This allows for better and more precise control and just flies so much easier. Secondly both the aileron and elevator axis are as smooth as silk and just work so great. Throttle quadrant is also a little smoother. The buttons on the yoke are bigger and better for trimming. I only miss the chrono but that's no big deal for me as this yoke was just such a big improvement from my Pro Flight Yoke.

If you want a medium range decent quality yoke and not spend too much, get the Cessna Yoke.

Is the TQ a different one to the Pro flight please Arjen? because I have two of the cheap Pro Flight and both eventually developed massive axis noise, to the point where the signal spikes make them virtually useless

Yes it's different. It looks exactly the same but the levers are completely quiet and have a bit less resistance.

The original one that came with my yoke is a lot more quiet & smooth than the one I bought separately months later, but the apparently the pots are the same, junk

According this and this the TQ is the same that shipped with the Pro Flight Yoke.

Hope you're more lucky than me and the myriad of other PF users that end up experiencing the same spikes with it

Just after realase i bued the Saitek Pro flight youke system its was a dissaster , after struggeling with it for 6months i changed evrything all pots and a bondar card .

Now i have it for my second Sim VFR flying working great

If you are looking at the Saitek Yoke...look at their Saitek Cessna yoke. Its a tad more but it has 180 degree movement.
