GPS for second PC

Featured Replies

That pretty much sums up what I'm looking for. A FSUIPC/WideFS GPS unit that can be used on my second PC. Even something like FS Navigator would work for my needs. Is there such a thing?

Hi,As far as I know, the only products capable doing this are the ones of FSFlightMax (freeware).FSFlightMax used to be payware, but they pulled the plug a long while ago and released it as freeware. There is no support anymore, other then the 'unofficial' support forum here at AVSIM.Alternatively you also can consider a product like Jeppesen Flightmap. This can be connected with a real GPS receiver. If you install 'GPSOut' application of Pete Dowson, you can emulate the GPS connection via a nullmodem cable and connect FS2004 with Flightmap.Works great.

Location: Vleuten, The Netherlands, 17.3dme SPL 108.40 | Simulator: FS2024
System: AMD 7800X3D - Gigabyte X670 - RTX 4090 - 64GB DDR5 - 2 x 2TB SSD - 32" 1440p Display - Windows 11 Pro

You need to get GPSOUT from Pete Dowson's site. Then for a moving map the best one by far after trying ALL of them is http://www.memory-map.com along with SimCharts or ANY REAL charts for that matter from http://www.aeroplanner.com. After you specify your chart directory and you fly from chart area to chart area, memory-map will automatically load them for you. It also tracks your position in the center with a circle and an arrow pointing your heading which extends as you go faster for being able to plan ahead. It also has the ability to create a night lighting (red tint and dim) atmosphere for night flights.Carmine http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/Images/wave.gif

Hi, a definite "Yes!"Before I

Hello UWE, I have had Airplan & OziExplorer as well and I just wanted a program that would load my charts, track my position with simple info, allow a "NIGHT MODE" and memory-map does that for me the best in my opinion of course. Ozi Explorer will work just as well but MM was better for me and my needs and tastes.Carmine http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/Images/wave.gif

Hi again, I

Hey Uwe,Glad I ran across this thread... very excited about putting the Garman on a 2nd PC. What a load of the main CPU that will be. D/l all your url's (thanks for taking time to paste them here). Installed the Garman 530 on PC #2. Installed the key ok. Was able to use the RemoteManager.exe to connect between the two PC's. But having a few questions on the install from this point forward:1. - I click on FSGarmin530.exe and I get the following error message:"Please install the Garmin Simulator software first"I thought that is what I just did on the 2nd PC? Do I have to have FS2004 running first? (gonna try that now).2. - The link to the Garmin Forums and fsavionics are no longer good?thxpony

As a follow-up I tried starting FS2004 and get the following Warning:Flight Simulator has detected a potentially incompatible aircraft or software. File: gps_export.dll. Do you want to load this software? If I choose to load the software FS will not start. If I bypass it all is normal.I can find no instructions (or website) for proper installation.Helpa!

"I need the functionality to calibrate my own scanned maps"Hello UWE, yes you can scan your own maps and calibrate them and I hallucinate you can fine tune your position as well since their is an option for calibrate under map menu. I have been involved with a major project so I don't have time to really check it out myself right now. If you don't find what you need I will play around with that in the next couple of days. Take care.Carmine http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/Images/wave.gif

Hi, in FS2002, a modified gps_export.dll was part of the package, with the remote manager it was copied to your main machine. You

Thanks for that info, I

Wow A lot more options than I thought, expecally freeware. I'm cooking the DLS line with downloads. It'll take me some time to figure out whats going to work best for me. Thanks for getting my hopes up and such quick responces.

Morning Uwe,Thanks for explaining. I am sure I missed a few steps here. I plan on playing with it tonight. Do I need to install WideFS as well for this to work?

You'll only need WideFS to run on a second PC over a network.

Hi Uwe,How do I install in remote mode? Hmm... I want to run my GPS530 off of my laptop on a wireless network where the Desktop runs FS9. I have all the software I need.. Except the WideFS.. and I shall get it once I know what How to set this up.the RealityXP Manual does not talk about any remote setup.thanks.Manny.PS: I have FS9 on both computers and I have the Reality Garmin 530 running on both computer independantly. But I want to run the GPS on the laptop while its connected to the Desktop running FS9.
