FMC Issue

Featured Replies

I am trying to understand the mechanics of the PMDG 737 FMC and so far so good.

However,I have a note on the FMC stating "V Speed Unavailable".

I have obviously done something incorret and would appreciate any assistance please.

Thank you in anticipation.

Michael Broom

Take a look at the FCOM v2, page 11.60.19. PMDG gave us extensive documentation on this airplane for a reason

Thanks for your reply but I am afraid that I do not have a copy of the FCOM document.

Therefore,in simple terms,I am wondering whether you could tell me what the problem may be.

Many thanks.

Michael Broom

Of course you have a copy. I mean... If you bought it, you should have a copy. It's in the Start menu under Programs\PMDG Simulations\PMDG 737NGX. The FCOM says the following:

V SPEEDS UNAVAILABLE

Cause: FMC cannot compute V speeds (as installed) due to unreasonable inputs on the RTE, PERF INIT, or TAKEOFF REF pages.

Corrective Action: Correct inputs that affect V speed computation.

If you have doubts about certain features of the 737, take a look at the FCOMs first. It's faster than waiting for other people to post answers, which in this case took hours. Took me less than 5 minutes to find the info you wanted in the manual. Just one friendly advice.

PMDG.

The name PMDG is an acronym for Precision Manuals Development Group.

Manuals refer to Owner's Manuals (ie instruction manuals). A Manual is an instructional book that is supplied with almost all technologically advanced consumer products ... information contained in the owner's manual typically includes:

  • Saftey instructions
  • Installation instructions
  • Setup instructions
  • Normal usage instructions.
  • Programming instructions
  • Troubleshooting instructions

(wikipedia)

All PMDG Products that I have purchased come with extensive documentation, including a full FCOM in the case of the 737NGX. (Some of the lite products like Be1900 for FS9 only didn't come with FCOM's, but still had plenty of instructions).

With the FCOM I would suggest the following use:

1: Find an issue you'v never seen before.

2: Open up FCOM in PDF format

3: Open up "Search" function in your PDF reader.

4: type the exact error message in the PDF search function.

5: Find answer to what that error message means.
