November 27, 201213 yr HI Folks. I have a Handley Page Halifax Bomber installed on my FS9, but it will not fly straight and level. The port wing always drops and hence the aircraft rolls to the left. This makes landing really difficult as when the yoke is level the plane starts rolling left, making line-up with the runway really difficult. Is there anyway of 'tweaking' the aircraft .cfg to remedy this, or any other way to remedy the problem for that matter. Unfortunately the aircraft does not have any rudder trim controls etc. Cheers John
November 27, 201213 yr Check your weight and balance. Do you have more weight on the left side? Captain Kevin Air Kevin 124 heavy, wind calm, runway 4 left, cleared for take-off. Live streams of my flights here.
November 27, 201213 yr When I have that problem on an FSX aircraft, I have several options. 1. Use the rudder trim. Usually this is way too coarse and I have to edit the config file for rudder trim effectiveness to change it from 1.0 to 0.2 usually. I suppose I could move the loads inside the aircraft, but I'm usually flying with some kind of asymmetrical load. So... 2. I'll either load more fuel into one side than the other, or 3, burn off fuel from one side until they're balanced. Things to check: make sure your rudders are centered. If you're using pedals, make sure they're calibrated. Same with the joystick or yoke. It may be that the torque or other propeller forces are causing the turn. This could be because you're flying at too high power or too high angle of attack. Normally, during a climb, you'll need to hold a bit of right rudder to keep the nose (and wings) straight, because you're both at high power and high angle of attack. The aircraft should fly fairly well in trim at cruise power. Hook Edit: If the rudder trim is set to a keyboard command, you may have it even if there's no control in the cockpit. During approach, you're at low power but often high angle of attack, and this requires right rudder, which is normal. H. Larry Hookins Oh!
