When yesterday I posted saying that I was not satisfied with the new "autogen" in beta5, I was basing my oppinion on an erroneous experience :-( sorry...

Actually it's not only my fault but X-Plane10's too (HDR in this beta makes lighting all too dark?...) :-)

I have been so busy with my new sim investment/passion that I seldom start either X-Plane10 or FSX (well, the A2A p-51 Civil is a MUST! we should have one at that level in X-Plane10, but for the time being, and with the torque bug, I don't think we could...), so, when I rushed trying X-Plane10, after erasing all of the pre-installed OSM folders from Custom Scenery, I got this image (1st shot bellow) on a morning approach to rw 03 LPPT (around 7:30 UTC = Local Time now)...

It irritated me again because of the usual discrepance between the RL daylight and X-Plane10's light, but also because I was not seeing any thing worth the effort... This was like in the 1st attached shot...

Then.... I decided to check my rendering setting and, not only increased the level of objects to it's MAX setting but also turned OFF HDR. Whow! The 2nd shot is the result...

This is still not Lisbon, but as far as I am concerned, and although default FSX includes quite a few emblematic buildings / structures, including my soccer's team stadium :-) - "Belenenses Football Club" - and also a few others... :-/, I am enjoying it this way :-) Looks a lot better than before, and, it's a lot smoother than what I was getting with OSM.

With HDR On - around 07:30 LT = UTC..., medium objects

With HDR OFF - same time..., max objects... Whow!

Wow!

I can run HDR fine but get massive frame hits if I set my AA to anything higher than FXAA.

Tonight I will try non-HDR with max objects as you have done.
