November 29, 201213 yr Commercial Member Couldn't find anything related to the above topic so let me ask, where can one find "do's and dont's" if you are a considered a commercial member? Only thing I remember is you need to have your status changed to 'Commercial Member', but what about avatars, tags, signatures, posting, etc., etc. Is there somewhere I can read up on that? thx, Clutch Intel i9-12900KF, Asus Prime Z690-A MB, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, (3) SK hynix M.2 SSD (2TB ea.), 16TB Seagate HDD, Gigabyte GeForce 5080 RTX, Corsair iCUE H70i AIO Liquid Cooler, UHD/Blu-ray Player/Burner (still have lots of CDs, DVDs!) December 2, 201213 yr Clutch, Nothing of the type exists, it's just a gentlemen's agreement, so to speak, that they hold themselves to higher standards. May I ask what prompts your inquisition? December 2, 201213 yr Author Commercial Member "May I ask what prompts your inquisition?" Sure, you may ask but I can't say, he-he-he. as of yet. Let's just say I'm exploring a few things. thx Intel i9-12900KF, Asus Prime Z690-A MB, 64GB DDR5 6000 RAM, (3) SK hynix M.2 SSD (2TB ea.), 16TB Seagate HDD, Gigabyte GeForce 5080 RTX, Corsair iCUE H70i AIO Liquid Cooler, UHD/Blu-ray Player/Burner (still have lots of CDs, DVDs!) December 2, 201213 yr There are some rules related to Commercial Members in our ToS', but your post provides a nudge for us to create a separate set of policies that are easily found and understood.
December 2, 201213 yr Nothing of the type exists, it's just a gentlemen's agreement, so to speak, that they hold themselves to higher standards. If I might piggy-back onto this comment? One area Commercial Members must be aware of is within the TOS. Basically, it's don't use the forums for advertising or promotion. If you want advertising, buy an ad such as those seen blinking all throughout Avsim. I don't interpret this to mean that if there is a forum thread that mentions your product that you cannot respond and advise, within reason. Within the area of one's work restraint should be shown with regards to any other product(s) that fall into the same category. You won't find me responding to much, if any topics relating to mesh or terrain enhancements. If I do, these are generalized comments that are made without reference to any other developers of similar types of products. The orange banner denoting a Commercial Member can be a good or bad thing. Good in that people might take a little more authority with the words written. Bad because it can impact / influence potential customers and their desires to purchase your products. There's been many a times I've wanted to post... something, but invariably end up hitting the back button on my mouse instead.

You have provided an excellent interpretation of our policy regarding commercial users and advertising. Thanks for posting that. I will use it to expand on our explanation of commercial user policies.
December 3, 201213 yr Author Commercial Member Gee... I hope I haven't open some hornet's nest on this. That was not my intention. Just didn't want to get my hand slapped in case I announced something down the road. I think you even provide a forum where a commercial member is allowed to make announcements? (need to look). Don't want to make you do extra work Tom. I'll check out the TOS. December 3, 201213 yr I don't think you've stirred the nest. I think you did the right thing, in that if you don't know what the rules are, ask. And respects to announcing a product release, a submission to the news crew will garner you a Front Page release. I think there is a link on the Front Page, but I'm too lazy to go and check... That News Release is picked up by other sites and bloggers, so it's seen by more eyes than just what view Avsim. What ya working on, Clutch? B) P.S. Tom is retired now. He likes (needs) something to keep him busy!
