November 30, 201213 yr Hi, I'm considering buying the Saitek Headset, and I'd like to take advantage of the mic with VoxATC. I just have a few questions. 1. Could I say stuff that the pilot and ATC say in real life, such as "Thanks" or "G'day" after they have been advised to tune another frequency? Here's an example of what I mean. ATC: "(Callsign) 123 contact departures. PILOT: "(Callsign) 123 departures, Thanks. " 2. How do you let VOXATC know about your callsign? Do you just start using it when you ask for clearance at the gate? 3. Are there any realistic voices to download instead of those obviously computer-generated voices? 4. Can you request stuff like autoland? Thanks for any suggestions. Thanks, Kevin L

November 30, 201213 yr I work in ATC training, 'by the book' it is not standard to add anything except standard phraseology and saying 'good day' or 'thanks' is not standard phraseology ... however ... in the real world it happens but not all the time with every transmission. The idea of RT is to keep it short, clear and to the point. If you add up over an hour the number of 'thanks/yous' or 'good days' you could have a fair amount of RT time used up for no reason and on a buisy freq time is worth its weight in gold ... for what its worth I'm also a CPL and Ive used pleasantries like everyone else because its polite and ... if your polite you 'might' get a higher level sooner or what ever instruction you need to help your phase of flight on its way! Anyway ... I use a Saitek Pro headset with VOXATC to answer some of your questions ... 1. Yes The odd thank you can get by but id you train the scripts you could get away with more. 2. You type it into a config box before starting ... if you change a/c you will have to change it before starting VOXATC ... isnt too much of an issue. 3. Loads ... but the nice ones cost. 4. Auto land?!? no as such ... ILS if IFR or VFR approaches ... autoland as in autopilot autoland is done on an ILS approach which is tech IFR flight rules. Hope some of this helps ... if you get VOXATC you wont regret it ... it really adds to the cockpit workload in a realastic way ... 'only' drawback is you have to use the phrase VOX is looking for which is sim to real life using 'standard phraseology'. Rich
