TrackIR 5 and 50"+ TV mounting options
Tatave replied to captain420's topic in Video Hardware: Monitors | Multi-Monitors | Video Cards | Drivers etcTry mounting it on top of the TV and angling the TrackIR down. If it's on the desk, the unit might not be able to "see" your TrackClip when you look up. I've tried it on a TV myself, worked just fine mounted on top.

P8 Poseidon
The P-8 is now available as part of the NGX base package. Check the Operations Centre, there are a few liveries available for the P-8 there.

Just yesterday I was thinking about the need for a good FSX/P3d Connie. Keen for this one!

Saitek Yoke mechanical issues
I notice that myself- sure is frustrating. This chap has kindly released instructions on how to replace the springs in the yoke with rubber bands: http://sehlah.com/yoke.pdf Considering it myself, the old springs are getting a bit tired now.

Flight1 ATR
Thanks to all for your replies!! I've had a look at the Cimber Air ATR, and it sure is pretty impressive for a freeware add-on. Unfortunate that the sim community does not have much choice when it comes to ATRs.

Flight1 ATR
Hi all, I'm chasing a quality ATR systems-heavy simulation. It looks as though Flight 1's ATR is the best out there, but how systems-heavy is it? Does it reach PMDG standards (to the point that it could be used by real pilots for revision) or does it fall short of that mark? Also, has anyone had any success in using the F1 ATR in Prepar3d? Thank you in advance.

Heads up! It's the captainsim annual "everything for 9,99 24h sale"!
Their 707 is actually very good in terms of systems and modelling.

The L1011 would be the best choice IMO. The 727 and 737 have problems here and there, making flying somewhat annoying. The L1011, however, is actually VERY nice to fly- problems are actually pretty hard to find in this one.

Brisbane Airport competition
Hi all! I am passionate about aircraft spotting and photography in general. I'd like to ask for a couple of seconds of your time please- for a quick vote for my entry in this competition: https://www.beautyofflight.com.au/#/boards/plane-paparazzi-ee542658-b854-439a-9a95-f5af0ae4df7d/entries/retro-roo-630e1c30-ea07-4184-9fcf-56db72a86362 Essentially, the most votes wins a voucher for a camera store, which would be amazing for me and my future with this passion of mine. I do apologise if this is an inappropriate topic. I appreciate your time, and thank you all very much!

Thank you both for your answers!! Sure would be interesting to have a 1960s environment in FS...

How do you spend your time on long-haul flights?
While I do enjoy ETOPS planning etc for PMDG aircraft, the only long-hauls I've performed were basically ones where I'd takeoff, go to bed and wake up in the morning, a short time before TOD. I find it's always nice to wake up, turn the monitor on and see the 777 flight deck there, the way I'd left it 12 hours ago. I've flown 3 long-hauls: 2x KLAX-YBBN (14hr) and 1x PHNL-YBBN (10hr). Other than that, I'm much like others in this thread- a 1-2hr hop will do it for me.

Flying NDB/VOR where there are no such aids
Hi all, I'm interested in flying a bit nostalgic and flying my regular routes with old aircraft. However, routes such as Brisbane to Sydney or Sydney to Melbourne are sparse in terms of NDBs and VORs, with only a couple at each end of the respective routes. Back in the day, 727s were used very commonly on these routes, and I'm just wondering, how would they have navigated (before the days of GPS of course)? Thanks in advance!

737NGX SPECIFICATION
Should run it fairly well; expect stutters around high-quality airports though.

LINDA launching issues
Hi all, Today I suddenly started having troubles with LINDA, which I've had installed for over a year until now. My AV software (BitDefender) detected a virus in the exe, and proceeded to completely disable it. I am now unable to launch, move or delete the main executable. Trying to get LINDA back, I've downloaded the latest release, and renamed the main exe to "LINDA1" (Can't replace the now disabled old file). My issue now is that while the new LINDA executable technically does start, it is not more than a process in the task manager. The more I try to start it, the more processes appear. Nothing at all appears in the taskbar or elsewhere. Would anyone please be able to suggest a solution? Many thanks.

Regulations against the manual control of an airliner?
Hi all, In the past, I've heard numerous rumours that some airlines prohibit manual control of an aircraft in normal operations. Some videos I've found indeed show pilots leaving the autopilot engaged until short finals (500 feet or so). Is this true, or is it purely to the PIC's liking (meaning they could fly the whole SID/STAR if they felt like it)? Thanks in advance.

747-200 for P3Dv2?
Unfortunately the flight sim community is lacking of a systems-heavy 747 Classic. As far as I know, the only two decent ones available now are the CLS 747 (Very basic) and the old RFP 747 (freeware; only works on FS2004). Hopefully someone will make one sometime soon!

[19JUL15] The View from the Top.
Just realised that the FMC in the first 744 pic says it's got GE90's hanging off the wings! Is the FMC an adaptation from the T7?

I'm all about that bird!
I wouldn't mind trying that route myself, sounds awesome! Truly is an incredible simulation, that's for sure.
