December 1, 201213 yr Hi I don't know how to explain that .. i have a GTX 660 msi twinfrozr, my textures in FSX are "waving" "undulating" when i turn camera, i have the same issue in Cities XL, My lod negative thing is switched "clamp".
December 1, 201213 yr You can reduce this effect by using Vsync. Others will explain. I dont type too well nor have time. http://#####.wordpress.com/fsx-software-and-hardware-guide/
December 1, 201213 yr It's called "tearing" and I get it occasionally. Turning VSYNC on will fix it, an a quick forum search will tell you more than you ever wanted to know. The way to turn VSYNC on is different between full screen and windowed mode. I fly in windowed, and the possible fixes are more work than I'm interested in doing. Actually, I suspect if I turned it on, I'd get stutters instead of tearing, and I don't get tearing all the time. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! December 1, 201213 yr Author Thanks, i could'nt make search about it because i did not know how it was called. (tearing) But I have already vsync 1/2 with adaptative in nvidia inspector, i play in full screen
December 1, 201213 yr Author Just tested SGSS at 2x and i had so much stuttering and it added more tearing, my gpu seems to not handle this
December 1, 201213 yr "waving" "undulating" when i turn camera Word Not Allowed, That sounds like tearing to me. Shimmering is if you're focused on something, not moving the camera, right? Hook Larry Hookins Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of EarthAnd danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
December 2, 201213 yr GTX660 not table to handle 2x SGSS? Now that's a new one... Not new to me - I run a 680 and truly can'y run SGSS at all. I lose about 7-8 frames and stutters galore. Chip is running 4.5 gHz.
December 2, 201213 yr Not new to me - I run a 680 and truly can'y run SGSS at all. I lose about 7-8 frames and stutters galore. Chip is running 4.5 gHz. With a GTX580 and a i7-2600k @ 4.7 my rig handles 2xSGSS with no problem (and eliminates those wavies, especially on the NGX VC cockpit panels and wings). I lose significant fps only when flying with more than 5 cloud layers in heavy weather with AS2012/REX HD textures. Example: today I landed the NGX at Flightbeam KSFO through 5 cloud layers and touched down at 30fps (limit set in FSX.cfg). Achieving a smooth-running FSX is a balancing act, and it sounds like something else isn't tweaked well if your setup can't handle a low level of SGSS. Have you looked at Word Not Allowed's FSX setup guide? Just a suggestion. - Jev McKee, AVSIM member since 2006. Specs: i7-2600K oc to 4.7GHz, 8GB, GTX580-1.5GB, 512GB SSD, Saitek Pro Flight Yoke System, FSX-Acceleration
December 2, 201213 yr Author I tested all tweaks, all FFTF possibilities, different nvidia inspector possibilities ... !!!! I'am not feeling comfortable with my new specs, something (very little thing) goes wrong and it is impossible to find WHAT !! For example i have 50-55 FPS on BF3 on high, and i drop to 40 when there is smokes etc... But according to benchmarks i should have average of 60 fps on this game at high with gtx 660.
December 2, 201213 yr I’m happy that SGSS works for both of you. Unfortunately, I tried again today and no matter what setting I use besides "Off" for Transparency Supersampling I lose on average approximately 7-8 frames and my ultra-smoothness disappears. Honestly, I dont see those wavy lines anywhere in the NGX so I'm happy to leave this off.
