Gigabyte rig won't POST

Featured Replies

Switched on my rig and it won't boot nor POST. Power and HD LEDs lit.

Removed all drives & graphics card, tested PSU output voltages (all good), reseated RAM and re-tested; still no POST nor error beeps.

Mo/bo is a Gigabyte GA-EP35C-DS3R with an Intel E8400 CPU. PSU is an OCZ 700W unit.

Can anyone advise if, from the above symptoms, the mo/bo, CPU or PSU has failed?

If not then I will have to build a new rig on a limited budget and would appreciate comments on these items I'm considering. Bear in mind that I'm in the UK so suggestions like "Newegg have this on offer" or "Try Bestbuy" are irrelevant

I5-2500K

Asrock Z77 Extreme 4

Corsair H80 cooling (H100 won't fit in my case)

Which RAM?

Cannot afford a new graphics card ATM so will have to use my GTX460

Thanks experts

Get the GSkill RipJaws DDR3 2133 8GB Memory Kit.

Unfortunately... only way to know for sure would be to swap in a known good component... imo.

I would guess motherboard or psu (psu fan spins up btw on boot?)

And if all mem pulled... should not there be a "beep" of some sort on boot?

I had a Tyan S2895 that did the same thing... problem started intermittent... then final wouldn't boot at all (no post - nothing). Found a capacitor with a bulging top after I pulled the board out. Might check capacitors for bulging or rupture.
