December 7, 201213 yr Hi everyone! I am trying to install an add-on in Prepar3D and it is working. I got into the aircraft etc. however, nothing in the cockpit seems to respond. When I hover over a button with my mouse, it recognizes the button or switch. However, it does not respond. I initially thought this would be a gauge permission problem, since it didn't ask me to grant any gauge files permission to run. I found all the gauges files which are located in the Panel folder of the aircraft and I tried to just copy its location into the Prepar3D.cfg. Nothing happened. I even installed the add-on aircraft on FSX and looked at the FSX.cfg to correct my prepar3d.cfg so i could edit the "trusted" section, but nothing happened. I am, however, able to use the controller and keyboard shortcuts to make the switches in the cockpit move and the aircraft responds as normal. I am able to fly, adjust the thrust and everything. I just cannot get the mouse to function with the cockpit. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
December 7, 201213 yr Look in your FSX Gauges / Fonts / Effects FOLDERS - in a lot of cases, you will find files specifically referencing your aircraft...you will need to move those to the respective P3D folders in order for everything to work. Tom I installed the add-on in Prepar3D, not in FSX. Therefore, none of the files of the add-on aircraft are in FSX anymore, since I uninstalled it.
December 7, 201213 yr FSXtremeVideos, I assumed you manually ported over from FSX to Prepar3D??? IF you did, then my reply still stands. IF you tried to install using a Migrator to point to Prepar3D instead of FSX, then sometimes the migrator does not always get the guages, effects, fonts correct. IF your plane is a FSX product, then I would suggest you install it in FSX first...then install either port it over or use a migrator - then look into the FSX install of aircraft to the folders I mentioned and get any reference file and move it to the respective P3D folder. I've manually ported over many payware planes as well as the default FSX ones with no issues using the methods. IF a new plane has a dual installer, then just install it in Prepar3D. IF you still have issues, then get with the vendor or forum to get the "fix". Tom It is a FSX installation, however, I edited the registry so that everything I install is automatically installed into my Prepar3D folder and also to the prepar3d.cfg. I have installed many add ons into Prepar3D using this method and it is extremely easy. I checked, and nothing has been placed into the FSX folder during the installation of the add-on. Thank you for your help.
December 7, 201213 yr Moderator Prepar3D has done away with the "Trusted Gauges" balogna completely. You are evidently missing some required gauges. In a virtual cockpit, the mouse points are coded into the compiled .mdl (model) file, but the actions are most often coded into a compiled .gau or .CAB file. Fr. December 7, 201213 yr FSXtremeVideos, I do understand what you are saying. I had many I installed using FSX2Prepar3d Migration Tool...........however, on the PMDG JS4100, it installed fine, however I never had guages showing, sounds were terrible......and through another thread, I was pointed to go to the PMDG folder in FSX, d/l some files to P3D, also on the sounds and guages...and it worked fine...sometimes the Migration tool doesn't get it "all". Had the same issue with the Citation Jet and the Pilatus 12... Good Luck. Tom BTW - WHICH aircraft are you trying to get to work? But I just read a thread where the staff confirmed it was not possible to use the VRS on Prepar3D without any bugs. I will have to wait for a vrs update of some sort. Thanks for your help!
