July 30, 200421 yr hi guys,i need your help with a decision: i`m thinking about upgrading my pc with a new graphicboard. my question is what is your recommendation for the best ones available at th moment and what will bring best performance, the cpu or the graphicboard? i don`t have the money for both, so it is important for me to know if the upgrade will bring effect. any help is very welcome...thx and regards, phil

July 30, 200421 yr thx for your answear (even if you where the only one... seems others do not use graphiccards...lol ;-) )i have an athlon xp 2400+ (768mb ddr ram) with an geforce4 titanium 4200 graphic board. but my performance is not very good with fs2004. will a new card do much improvement or is it more a cpu problem?phil
July 30, 200421 yr What OS are you using? If you're running WinXP you may be better off starting with more RAM. I discovered that 768 is just *barely* enough and that 1GB really helps.
July 30, 200421 yr From experience and all that I have read CPU gets the nod first, then the video card. I had 512 RAM on XP and went to 1GB and there was no difference. But I would say 512 minimum. The video card helps with better eye cany especaiily ocean effects and the like, as the better cards supprot direct 8 and higher.See another response :-)
July 31, 200421 yr Author Phil, first of all, there is a hardware forum specifically for these kinds of questions, so that may be why you are not getting a lot of feedback.. That said, I fly on a P4-2.8, 512 Meg, Ti4200 and am quite happy.. My advice would be: cut back on weather and graphics details (like shadows etc) that eat framerates. Then get the latest video drivers at www.nvidia.com (61.76), they are very good for FS9.If you really want to spend dollars, I'd recommend CPU, video card, memory, in that order. Bert
