Why not?...

The concept is good, the outcome is, so far (i just own the p51d and the bs2) perfect, so, I can't stop asking myself if, by any chance, we could have in the future some military version of a well known civil aircraft.

The military versions of Beechcrafts, Cessnas, etc... are good examples.

From someone coming from the civil side of flight simulation because I am tired of not finding there what I look for in the first place - good flight dynamics and systems / engine / damage /etc... modelling, I dream of one day seeing a B200 military being announced :-)

Even a military version of the "Push-Pull" 337 (OA2), or a Cessna Bird Dog would do :-)

Well,

replying to my own thread (not unusual...) I would 1st start by apologizing for the double post, and then add some important info a forum member at the DCS site provided, quoting the P51d FAQ...

Q: How is the P-51 supposed to fit into DCS? This makes no sense to me.

A: DCS is an open simulation environment, not confined to any one era, level of fidelity, or 1st party development. In the future ED and 3rd parties may add all sorts of different units ranging from gliders to X-51s.

Hello jcomm,I like yourself really enjoy the fantastic Advanced Flight Model available in DCS,My only problem is the dated terrain,It's basically an updated version of what was available in Lock-On,circa 2003.

When The New Terrain Engine, along with Nevada Map finally come out(hopefully soon) DCS will be a MONSTER!!! :) I mean that in a Good way.

Yes, that would be nice. Id buy a civilian plane for DCS. But t think a lot of hardcore fighter jocks would be upset.

However, DCS has been opening up the sim to 3pd's, so I wouldnt be surprised if an unarmed aircraft were to be part of the flyable set someday. It would be more likley to see something like this after the Nevada scenery is released.

I think the current scenery looks nice as far as the textures go, they are top notch, even though its been around since 2003, (minus the ground clutter added recently). However, the mountain mesh, needs updating. They tend to look low res and Pryamid like at times. An HD mesh simular to what was released for X-Plane & FSX would do wonders for the current scenery in DCS world.

I imagine, I wont be flying in Georgia much after the Nevada scenery comes out. I looks fantastic from the preview shots Ive seen. A great place to practice tank busting in the A10!
