December 15, 201213 yr Just a quick question. i like too speed up my flights between take off and landing and sometimes the ATC dissconects me because i cant press the command quick enough at that speed. so, should i stay conneced to ATC throught the flight?
December 15, 201213 yr What I used to do was wait until I was in cruise, then when you get the first "frequency switch" message, acknowledge it but don't change frequency. Then when you are ready to start descending switch frequency and contact ATC. Works fine, just cuts ATC out whilst you are cruising.. December 15, 201213 yr I second Gary's advice. That's the best you could do without cancelling the IFR flightplan. Flo Florian
December 15, 201213 yr One thing though, depending how long you are out of contact, when you make contact again, you may be directed to a heading in the opposite direction a few times. Ignore these, it will keep asking, until finally it will ask you assign you the correct coarse and to resume normal navigation. Only then acknowledge. From then on ATC should be normal.
