PMDG 737 NGX blurry textures

Featured Replies

Hey there,

I got a serious problem with my PMDG 737NGX, after I have reinstalled my entire operating system and fsx+sp2.

The 737 causes a massive lag on my scenery quality, when I fly her all my scenery gets brown, the clouds get pixelled, the water texture change to just blue and everything is lagging extremely, the cockpit textures get slightly blurry and sometime totally blurry which makes it impossible to read what is written in the cockpit. This happens for example with 0 AI traffic at a FSX standard airport (Oslo, ENGM).

I tweaked my fsx.cfg several times and use an external FPS limiter (limited fsx to 30fps), I have switched of the FO's displays in the VC and limited the screens to 9FPS, but that didn't change anything. I have tried to run it with all scenery sliders to the left but it didn't change anything. I have also tried to reinstall the NGX without success.

My system specs are:

Windows XP 32-bit

2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

Nvidia GeForce 8600M GT 512MB

I never had any problems with the NGX, it always was the smoothest thing to run on my system until I had to reinstall Windows XP (running Win Xp on a bootcamp partition on my MacBook Pro).

I can run the 747x with a high amount of AI with UK2000 LHR scenery without any impact on my performance (just as an example) and having all scenery sliders to the right!

Does anyone have a clue what the problem could be? It is really annoying, I really love my 737 but it is the only plane that really causes problem.

P.s sorry for the bad picture quality.

Ensure you have TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=4096

Beech Baron: Uh, Tower, verify you want me to taxi in front of the 747?

I will try to do that, thanks for the quick reaply! :-)

Didn't change anything..

Ensure that you do not change any other display settings from FSX after changing the texture max load setting. Doing so will cause the texture max load setting to revert to its original value of 1024.

I used to run FSX on an Apple iMac with similar (if not worse) specifications as yours, but the only very annoying issue I experienced was the blackening and graying of both aircraft and scenery textures when I ran the PMDG B747 with McPhat Studios textures. I believe this was due to a shortage of memory, even though I had 4.0 GB.

Do you run any other add-ons or programs that may interfere with the performance of the B737 (e.g., graphics enhancers, online flying clients, etc.)? If all else fails, you could try rebuilding your FSX.cfg, reinstalling again, or running the Flight1 Registry Repair Tool.

I have not changed anything after I've changed the texture max load in the CFG. Just tried with the PA A380 ehich usually is extremly good on my system. All textures here became White (i guess FSX thinks it snows, lol) the water was displayed n BIG pixels and everythng started laggng.

I have a bunch of UK2000 scenery, EKCH X, some freeware scenery, AES and GSX. But I turned this stuff off for testing. Nothing happened. I have no graphic enhancers and no online flying clients. It's quoet frustrating that it does not work right now. It worked so wonderful before I had to reinstall Win XP.. And my setup is almost the same as before, just that I have less add-ons installed.

Hi, my suggestion is that you get that scenery issue sorted before doing anything to your textures.

Verify you have the HIGHMEMFIX=1 in your fsx.cfg?

The NGX is also a bit complex for some systems to run, I recommend turning down your sliders to minimum, see if that sorts your lag.

Another thing is to use the performance manager that is included in SP1C.

The Max load 4096 tweak wouldn't solve anything here I think.

HIGHMEMFIX=1 is there, i just trieded to fly with the default trike, it even gets blurry there now. But not as extreme as aboce shown on the pictures.

Can you paste a copy of your CFG file?

What's your Filtering set to?

Also, have you 'High Resolution 3-D cockpit' selected in the aircraft tab of Options?

-Have you Low Resolution Virtual Cockpit Textures selected in the NGX performance manager?

Are you using any video card settings program? Since I have an ATI card, I use Catalyst Control Center, and if I do not set settings carefully, I will experience completely blurred textures, crashes, and flashes.

Hey guys, sorry for being inactive for quiet awhile.

I got a temporary solution for the problem, I've downgraded my settings, removed some scenery and once again reinstalled the NGX, it works and should do the job until a new computer has arrived.

Thanks for your advice gentlemen.
