Airbus X Extended - Various questions

Featured Replies

Hi guys! I'm happy to hear that the Aerosoft airbus has arrived, and I have a couple of questions I would like answered (if possible) before I concider purchasing it. If I posted this in the wrong section, or another topic of similar nature already has been made, I apologise.

Here are my questions:

1. I am using nvidia surround to expand my virtual cockpit across 3 screens. Has anyone tried the a320 with a similar setup? Are there any known problems?

2. The regular a320 x had some issues with fsuipc making it a big hassle to fly because I had to treat it so differently to all my other addons (separate axis configuration tool etc). How compatible is the new extended version with Dawsons FSUIPC?

If you could help me shed some light on these questions Id be grateful!

Sincerely,

Andreas S.

Hi Andreas,

I can help for the question 2 only. After trying to setup mu Airbus X yesterday with success (first time succeed since the lauchning of this airplaine for me). I purchased the extended version and do the same things :

For Airbus X

  1. Download the AS_Fadec.dll on the aerosoft forum, unfortunalely I do not found it today to give you the link. Replace My old AS_Fadec.ll in all version of the Airbus X.

  2. I have the latest FSUIPC registred. I put the LUA script described here http://forum.aerosof...-upd-16th-sept/. Check for the the first post in the thread. Copy the script in a notepad and save as specified in the instruction.

  3. Open FSX. Choosed Airbus X. Go in FSUIPC setup. All my axis was previously set as "general" profile except for the throttle. Choose the option to conserve the general setting and save the mode. Set the specific aircraft option and save as "Airbus X" profile. For the two axis, choosed the "Lua.AirbusX_Thr1" and "Lua.AirbusXThr2" under "send to FS as normal axis" mode.

  4. Everything works well. Set the reverser the same way as "Throttle1 dec" and "throttle2 Dec" and set the repeat on held function at the right of the FSUIPC panel. It work, but I have to push the lever to top and then pull at idle position to reset. I do not find how to do otherwise.

I tried the script before without success. I do not know why it work now. May be the way I set the profile do a difference, I do not know.

  2. Follow the instruction here : http://forum.aerosof...or-fixing-them/. Follow the instruction if you have a non-english OS, then, changed the ASInpunt.ini as required for 1 or two throttles.

Sorry for my bad english. Hoping that this will help you.

Are there any known problems?

Yes..with three screen there is the spinning cursor that eats around 12FPS issue. Here is the solution.

In Panel,cfg comment out all Windowsxx under [Window Titles] except Window00 and Window06=Left MCDU

hmm thanks for replies guys. Bought A320 ext today, and of course the first thing I run into is the throttle problem. Michel, Im glad you think so highly of me, but that recipie is not really simple. I have never heard of lua scripts before, and the fadec.dll file you mentioned is not obvious to find either. Im worried that this addon will mess my sim up, but I will keep trying.

Hi, Ian, and thanks for your reply. I'm afraid that Im still stuck with non-working throttles even after following that procedure. They just move a tiny bit (although some response is there), but its just back and forth between idle and full reverse. I tried inverting the axes as described in your link, but it didnt help.

Hmm, my only other suggestion would be to make sure that you don't have any other axis assigned to the throttles. I've only had it for a day so I've not got much experience with it at all. For me it was just a matter of making sure I had just the throttle controller I wanted to use assigned and then setting my AsInput.ini as follows:

[Common]

Logging=1

NullZone=0

[FlightControls]

Enable=1

//[FADEC]

AxesCount=1

//InvertAxes=1

//Event1=AXIS_THROTTLE_SET

AxesCount=2

Event1=AXIS_THROTTLE1_SET

Event2=AXIS_THROTTLE2_SET

Before I got it working I had a similar situation to yours. My throttles were pretty much stuck at idle. I could get a little movement above idle but too much would return them to idle. The keyboard commands didn't work at all. Hopefully you get it worked out soon. The staff in the Aerosoft forums are very helpful too so I'd suggest posting there if you can't get it working soon.

Good luck, Andreas

Most throttle problems can be solved my sticking to these rules :-

- Have only 1 throttle axis assigned to "Throttle" (and not "Throttle 1") in FSX Assignments. (I still use two lever but one is dummy; it just doesn't matter in an A320 :wink:

- As above, have the "Throttle" assigned in FSX Assignments for this aircraft, not FSUIPC. (You can get it working with FSUIPC using lua scripts, but I am outlining the easiest way to get it working here).

- Avoid duplicate hardware assignments to "Throttle".... Eg. If you have a Saitek Throttle Quad but also a Joystick with a small joystick axis, make sure both are not assigned to "Throttle" in FSX assignments, or that can stop the throttles working in the Extended.

One of the above factors not being met covers 90% of the causes of throttle issues with the Extended.

I decided to uninstall the A320. Unfortunately the throttle issue has now taken a turn for the worse. I can live without the a320, but I cannot without the NGX :( Please have a look at this and help me resolve this isse. The left throttle goes from -16000 to +240 by traveling from idle and just a millimeter forward. The 2nd throttle has a normal range where 0 is about in the middle of the total range.

I modified some aiinput file in the mydocuments folder for a320 extended but this is now deleted. I also modified fsuipc.ini as described by aerosoft employees. I deleted the ini file to get it afresh. Ive tried calibration etc but I come up short. I have proflight throttle from saitek.

SENSITIVITIES!

Go to controls, sensitivities and make sure they are to the max on each throttle assigned!
